Usual Sony quality but flawed flashgun
Used on my Sony DSC F717 to be honest its really dated technology now as it has no hotshoe connection and relies on on the accessory plug to connect to the camera.Using the thyristor control built in the flash means its flash output is OK but very difficult to get an accurate exposure, direct flash very over exposed ,bounced flash is better but still needs a lot of manual control to achieve correct exposure, the built in flash on this camera is better at the job and I suspect it will be the same on other Sony cameras that use this flash,so bear this in mind when using. My preference would be to use it bounce mode wherever possible and use the histogram (if you have one)to get correct exposure after the first shot reckon on as much as -2 full stops depending how far you are away from ... Revived my camera
The built-in flash on my F707 died. A camera without a flash is pretty much useless. But, since my external flash jack was never used, I gambled on the jack still working. So I bid on one and got it for a fraction of the original price and it worked! I'm thrilled to say it prolonged the life of my favorite camera and it takes even better flash pictures than the built-in flash ever did.

Outstanding Flash
Without a doubt this is a great flash but only for certain Sony cameras. Mine is used on a Sony DSC-F717 or Sony DSC-F707. The power, battery life and ease of use makes this one of the best flashes expecially for the Sony DSC-F707 which does not have a hot shoe, it simply plugs in and that's that, the camera sets everything. If you have an older DSC-F707 this is the flash to use. Outstanding performance!Without a doubt this is a great flash but only for certain Sony cameras. The Only Choiuce for the Sony F707 or F717
This is a great flash unit. Small, portable, and rugged and not too high a drain on your battery's. It is however a dedicated and exclusive slave flash in that it is not compatible with any other camera's I know of. A great unit for what its supposed to do, but it doesn't work with everything.
