Mrs. Eames has done it again by creating another wonderful book for Barbie Collectors! These are items sold between 1975-1979. I am especially pleased that it has a fine detailed description & clear photographs of these items, which include the Best Buy fashions & accessories, series such as Get-Ups-and-Go,dolls in original packaging and some out of box, foreign editions of dolls, clothing and accessories. Of course Ken, Francie, Skipper and the rest of the Barbie "gang" is included. Also in this great book are Barbie's many celebrity friends such as Donny & Marie Osmond, Farrah Fawcett and others which were sold during these years. The pictures are clear and so easy to see every detail, even through the original packaging. There are also "current values" for the items with each description as well. One detail that I am especially pleased with and I am sure you will be too is the way the Index is arranged. Unlike Volume I which had the index arranged by page, item (not in Alphabetical order) and value, (which when searching for desired item, you had to find it by looking for page number then go to item), the format for this edition is listed in groupings of doll, clothing name & series and item number. I found this to be a great time-saver and it was no longer necessary to have to go through the book to find the item to begin with. I do not currently have Volume II, so I do not know if this easy Index format was used for it or if it is as Volume I's index was printed. I do recommend this Volume III edition as a must for all collectors. You will not be disappointed when you look through the beautifully photographed pages and see the perfect details Ms. Eames has shared with the readers. The collections are fantastic and simply great to see again.Read full review
If you have Barbie doll clothes, or clothes you think might be Barbie's, this book will be very helpful. It should be noted that the book does not mention the dolls, just the clothing. However, it lists every outfit made for Barbie during this time period. (see other volumes for earlier clothing) Nice photos of the outfits as well as a brief description of clothing and any accompanying accessories are included. It is not quite as descriptive as the first volume. But then the clothes aren't as detailed either. These series is truly one of the most effective collectables guides I have ever seen.
All three of the Eames books have been my go to for collecting Barbie fashion. While there are other books out there that are wonderful in their own right and sometimes more exact, these books are the easiest to use, with the possible exception of the second edition covering the mod years not having an index. The photos are beautiful and descriptions are generally good except for the variations in shoes sometimes included and the fact that shoes were sometimes not included at all which seems a bit unclear in this book especially. Anyway for a best go to, with the most information I recommend these!
I have the Vol. 1 of this book, and love it! It has beautiful photos, and very good descriptions of the Barbie fashions for the times listed. I was so happy to see Vol.11! There are many Barbie items that are not tagged, or included in a Mattel fashion booklet during this time period. This is very helpful to collectors! I am very pleased!
