Purchased this phone due to its high quality construction, HD screen, dual core processor, 32 GB of onboard storage, and low price. I also wanted a relatively "pure" Android experience (without a lot of junk apps) and this phone delivers that. It was a near top-of-the-line device 5 years ago and is adequate even today for anyone who isn't a power user. Camera is only 5 megapixels, so anyone who takes lots of pictures may want a phone with a higher resolution camera. You're stuck with Android 4.2.2 unless you are willing to root the phone and install a 3rd party Android O.S., but I knew this going in. The battery life is surprisingly short even with modest use -- I got about 8 to 9 hours. Shortly after my phone purchase I bought a higher capacity battery so the phone had enough juice to make it through a day --- something I highly recommend anyone get from the start.Read full review

The battery had a problem with bloating, and I was able to get a new one free thanks to the great support, and the phone seemed like a good value. It gets very hot, but otherwise it worked well. However the device has a defect that popped up randomly and keeps popping up and I have found no fix for it. The launcher crashes and gives the error "trebuchet has stopped working". The device is also very unstable with some apps. No matter how many times I wipe the phones data, the error still occurs. But otherwise, it is a good phone, although it is quite old.

I bought this phone to upgrade without getting rid of my unlimited data plan. The best undocumented feature that I find useful is it allows me to be on the phone and on web at the same time (suck it AT&T!). The only thing I didn't like is this model doesn't connect to my computer via USB as a mass storage device which would make it easy to manipulate files on the phone through my computer. That's would have been the simplest way to restore my old backed up app settings. That also stopped me from being able to do a USB tether and use the phone data plan to get my computer on the internet when normal internet access methods are unavailable. I have just had to learn to deal without those features. Also the battery life was pretty horrible by itself, but using a battery saver app makes it last a decent amount of time.Read full review
I purchased this phone because I wanted to upgrade to 4g LTE without losing my unlimited data plan through Verizon. This phone was one of the least expensive ways that I found to accomplish this. Compared to the other Android phones in it's price range this is actually better across the board except for two areas. The first and most glaring issue with this phone is the battery life. I charged the phone overnight after I got it activated on my account. After very light use I had to plug it into a charger about midway through my day, I had an Iphone before upgrading to this so low battery life was a completely new issue for me. After installing task killers and the green power app I can now make it about 10 hours on a charge with light use. The second weakness compared to the other phones in it's price range is the 5 mp camera; however this only appears to be a weakness on paper as I haven't noticed much of a difference between the 5 mp camera on this and the 8 mp camera I had on my iphone. If those two issues don't scare you off then you will be in for a gem of a phone. The Amoled display is vibrant, and gives a great picture (if you ignore the fact that any bright colors kill your battery). The 4g LTE is incredibly fast, I quite regularly get 10 mbps download and 9.5 mbps upload in my office. Also considering that there have been several generations to come out after this phone, it is still a workhorse. I am able to multi task and tab through various windows with very little if any lag. Another pro for me is the absence of bloatware and the full fledged android 4.2.2 experience. Pros -4G LTE -Amoled -Google JB -Stout Performance Cons -BATTERY LIFE (If you don't want to be tethered to a charger most of the day look into a zerolemon extended battery) -5 MP Camera -Occasional poor audio on phone calls Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase, as this phone is great value for the money.Read full review
What's good; newer Android software (not the latest, but close) What's bad; battery life. Using a smartphone for the tasks you expect will suck battery power FAST. If you like the phone, look up extended life batteries from Samsung. That's what I did. Indifferent: this phone has no facility to take a memory chip ... I thought that would be a problem until I looked at the memory use on the phone I had then. I wasn't using any more than 1 Gig of a 32 Gig chip, so I didn't miss the no memory chip facility. You WILL have to transfer old info to your phone through a PC ... unless you want to do it manually!

Being active in the dev community, and already on Verizon, I really didn't want to lose my unlimited data, but didn't want to pay Verizon price for a 4G phone. This is currently the only Google Nexus device available on Verizon, and it has already been updated to Android's latest software version. I specifically chose this device since it was a Nexus device. I love that it's stock Android, and updated with the latest Android version. The screen is gorgeous with full 1080p HD resolution. However, as Samsung's first 1080p HD device, the screen resolution is a battery killer so the battery life is sub-par. I knew that from doing my homework. I thought it was a fair trade off and still do. I keep a battery-saver app and a night-mode app running to dim the screen and turn off data connections when not in use, and ordered the full extended life battery also. Lasts much longer now. Extremely happy with my Gnex purchase, full, un-metered 4G speeds, has yet to step back to 3G in my home area. A great dev phone, and a great value. Still well-supported, if, even at Google's insistence with a reluctant Verizon, and even better and more thorough support from the dev communities. Can't say enough good about this phone as a Nexus branded device on Verizon, except, I still am not pleased with Verizon dragging their feet on updates, but Google holds their feet to the fire.Read full review
The Galaxy Nexus, despite not being the hot new thing on the market anymore, is still a great piece of tech. Right away, I'll point out that the battery life on this thing is sub par. This is definitely the deal breaker if you're on the fence and battery is a prime concern for you. However, if you're someone who doesn't mind plugging in during the day at some point, then you should be all set. Alternatively, there are third-party extended batteries in the 3800mAh range, which just about double the length of the stock battery. These batteries will add some buldge to your otherwise sleek Nexus phone, but in my opinion, the added size is well worth being able to run over a day in battery life. The new Nexus 4 is, rather unfortunately, restricted to 3G mobile data speeds. Unless you're within WiFi range all the time, you will notice the difference in internet speed between these two, which was the reason I picked up the Galaxy Nexus in the first place. Overall, the Galaxy Nexus is smooth and speedy on Android Jelly Bean, and zips past the 3G Nexus 4 in data speed, despite its lesser processing power.Read full review
Have had a Samsung Galaxy S, the original Fascinate with Verizon for several years. I was looking for an upgrade that didn't lag when trying to do simple apps. Hands down this is the best phone I have ever had. Reception is awesome, just as good as the Fascinate, and has 4G. The screen is crystal clear and easy to read in the darkest night, although daylight is a bit rough as it is with any cell phone. The touch screen is very responsive, but at times with small buttons like refresh or exit gets a little tricky. OK, now with the bad: Although the 4G itself doesn't drain the battery as many people say it does, the 4G coverage isn't the best where I live and with it constantly switching between 3G/4G throughout the day, the battery might last from 8am-1pm. But the good thing is, keeping a USB cable handy is easy and makes for easy charging since I work around computers. Hands down THE best phone I have ever owned and used. I have even tried a S3, and although the bigger screen is better for me, for the $$$ this is a WINNER!Read full review
Excellent product, has many features I probably don't even know about yet! (first time smart phone user) Only complaint is the short battery life. Purchased the largest battery possible for this unit, and still need to charge at least every day. Just purchased a portable charger to make sure I always have a fully charged phone in an emergency.

So I had Bionic and I was happy with it, until this phone came out. The Galaxy Nexus presented too many awesome features for me to pass it up, and seemed to me to be a significant improvement over my Bionic. So I got it. I love this phone. I am running it regular stock, non-rooted. Has everything I want, it is not laggy, ICS is great, NFC is sweet if not as widespread as I would hope yet. The camera would be better if it was higher quality but it is good quality still, and the zero lag feature is clutch. I have never run into an issue needing an SD card and feeling like I was stuck because I did not have that option, and Google offers ways to use the phone as storage easily anyway. Battery Life is so dependent on your specific situation. When I am in my hometown with 4G I got very short battery life (I often was putting the phone under heavy usage at the time and never turned off 4G). I would have to guesstimate I got 5-6 hours medium-heavy use, and 8 hours regular on LTE. Where I live now there is not yet 4G and I often use WiFi and I get up to 15-17 hrs on light use and about 12-13 on Moderate-Regular use. Anyway it is just awesome to have a phone that just works how you want it to (I know, obligatory iPhone mention here: iPhone is a good phone but I don't want iOS - ok moving on) and it is a fantastic experience using this phone. The screen quality and size make it great to use. Ice Cream Sandwich is great but I am not going to review that too. Little things like the notification light (which is customizable via 3rd party apps) and having the lock button on the right hand side of the phone are some of the things that I think take this phone a level above most. It may not be a key feature, but things like that set it apart from many other similar spec'd phones. Best: Huge/Brilliant Screen NFC (Allowing you to use Google Wallet - not hard to get this even on Verizon non-rooted) Ice Cream Sandwhich Unlocked Bootloader Notification Light Right hand side lock button Worst Things: Screen is not Gorilla Glass (still scratch/break resistant but not as durable as Gorilla Glass in my opinion) Camera is only 5 MP No microSD Slot/HDMI out (they do have an HDMI via dock now) Speaker phone not very loud (apparently you can get 3rd party apps to make it louder but I have not tried this) TL;DR - It is not perfect but it is close, with no deal-breaking flaws or oversights; thanks to its wide range of features (LTE/NFC), early reception of Google software updates, and ability to root and overclock it, this phone will be the most capable of keeping up with technology on a 2-yr plan.Read full review
