The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera is a Russian alternative rangefinder type model that was based on Germany’s Leica camera. For camera buffs who prefer analog to digital models, this unit’s 35mm film capability allows you to take pixel-free images. The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera gives photographers the flexibility to exchange lenses and choose the best size to fulfill their artistic vision, from close-up details of flowers or insects, to majestic landscapes. The photographer’s art is enhanced with this camera’s manual options for setting film speed and adjustments for optimal light conditions. FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera is one of the most feature packed cameras of this type that does not require a battery. This sturdy camera is virtually indestructible and contains a rare-earth element called Lanthanum, which has a slightly radioactive property. This has been tested and found to emit no more radioactive compounds than found in normal background radiation. The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera was produced by the FED factory from 1977 until 1996 in the Ukrainian city of Kharkov. The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera is an updated version of the FED-4, featuring cleaner lines to the top, a pop-up rewind knob instead of a thumb-wheel, a hot shoe, and a restyled frame counter/film reminder and meter rings. The meter scale has been repositioned and converted to an EV-scaled device from the previous match-needle version. This allows the photographer to manually transfer meter readings to the calculator. There are seven types and 10 sub-types of the FED-5, including the FED-5C. The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera features a standard lens Industar-61 L/D 53mm f/2.8 interchangeable lens, 39mm Leica screw mount, and a filter size of 40.5mm. One of the most familiar brands to Western buyers, Industar was one of the lens brands produced by lens makers from the former Soviet Union. Industar is quite highly regarded in this sense. Many of the controls and much of the layout of the FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera will be familiar to Leica screw mount users. The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera has an aperture of f/2.8 setting with ring and scale on the lens. The camera’s focus range is 1-20m + infininty, with matching yellow images in the viewfinder. This model has a horizontal moving focal-plane shutter, and a shutter speed of 1-1/500 +B. The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera features a cocking lever on the right top plate that also winds the film and is retractable. The viewfinder has a diopter correction ring around the eyepiece. The bright spot visible in the middle of the viewfinder is the rangefinder. The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera’s synchronization has been designed for use with electronic flash at a 1/30 per second shutter speed. For any flash problems at this low speed, the use of 100 ASA or less will solve the issue. The FED-5B 35mm lens rangefinder film camera has an exposure meter with an uncoupled Selenium cell sensor. The FED-5B camera works with lenses made in Russia for the FED, Zorki, MIr and other rangefinders. It also works with LTM lenses made by Nikon, Leica, Steinheil, and Contax. The FED-5B camera is a well-made Soviet-era camera ideal for camera buffs and serious photographers who want to have total control of their image creation.
