Mooer Radar Speaker Cab Simulator IR Loader with Color LED Screen NEW!
This thing is cool ! Though there is one factor that really plays a big role, your distortion pedal. If your distortion pedal is lousy then you best buy a new one. My favorite IR so far is the telos julep. I would look around for free IR's. The telos julep is free. I really didn't like the factory IR's. You will need to play around with the power amp, the eq, the cabs and it will take some tweeking with your amp. I use the 6v6 power amp. There is an overall volume on this pedal, so you can blend your distortion box. I didn't have any problem with using the power amps. I am just using a cheap Caline Tantrum distortion pedal without the boost setting on. And everything sounds killer. I think a new distortion pedal, like the Revv 3, would be even better. But, I also have 3 overdrives for ... This thing is cool ! Though there is one factor that really plays a big role, your distortion pedal. Great .....while it worked..
I've owned several Mooer pedals over the last few years. I find the quality to be 'hit and miss'. Some have been great and some have jeopardized some live shows for me. I eventually rotated them off of my pedalboard - because the upside to them wasn't worth the risk. When the RADAR came out - I have to admit - that the functions and the value drew me in, so I bought it. It worked extremely well ....for two weeks. Last night, I was playing and my sound kept cutting in and out. I did all of the basic trouble-shooting and traced it back to the RADAR. The unit stayed powered up but the sound would come in for several seconds - then cut out for several seconds. To EBay's credit, I had a shipping label immediately after requesting a return. Mooer has once again demonstrated what I learned about ... I've owned several Mooer pedals over the last few years. I find the quality to be 'hit and miss'. It’s a little noisy, and if you want to update it on a Mac you have to first update it on a Windows PC. Luckily I have both. This is a lousy bug. However, the unit can be run on a 9v power supply which is a plus as it can be put in the same effects chain as other pedals. I kind of wish I had gone with a different IR loader pedal such as the Two Notes or NUX. The software is very easy to use however, and the unit is very intuitive. I would recommend it, but just be advised that you’re not getting top of the line gear.It’s a little noisy, and if you want to update it on a Mac you have to first update it on a Windows PC. I’ve never used sims before. I record the old fashion way. Eventually I came to my senses and tried it out. I get really convincing amp tones now direct recording without bothering anybody. I use a tube preamp to give it some organicness and the radar really handle speaker types and power tube arrangements and eq settings . I’ve loaded other irs into it with great results. I get a slight latency but doesn’t bother me to the point of playing out of time. I’ve tried out of pedal board to radar than a powered speaker and could use like an amp in a pinch, very convincing amp tones. Make your old modelling unit great again!
I own a POD HD and I have been waiting for a product like this for a long time, the biggest and only real issue with the POD HD is that the guitar cabinets simulations are terrible, so I have always wanted to get my hands on an IR loader but the price of other units made no sense to me until this arrived. It was either this or getting current generation modeler. Everything is great about the unit and for the price, there's nothing I would add to it, now my POD sounds the way it should have always done so and the IR's that I have been using when recording with POD can be taken with me into a live environment.I own a POD HD and I have been waiting for a product like this for a long time, the biggest and only real issue with the POD HD is that the guitar cabinets simulations are terrible, so I have always wanted to get my hands on an IR loader but the price of other units made no sense to me until this arrived.
