Perfect. My second purchase from "Learned2Duck" - both items were exactly as described, extremely well-packaged, and timely. Very satisfied.

Jimi Hendrix Live At Winterland CD

If you like the music of Jimi Hendrix, than this is a CD that you will enjoy tremendously, because it is Jimi Hendrix at his prime, with Noel Redding on bass, and Mitch Mitchell on drums (The Jimi Hendrix Experience). The song selection is great, featuring many songs that have become synonomous with Jimi Hendrix: "Red House", "Foxy Lady", "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze" to name a few. Other great selections are "Manic Depression", "Spanish Castle Magic", "Killing Floor", "Tax Free" and "Fire". He also pays tribute to Cream, with a very cool version of "Sunshine Of Your Love", and he covers the infamous Troggs anthem, "Wild Thing". As I mentioned, this is Jimi Hendrix, recorded live, in his prime. The shows are from October of 1968, at Winterland in San Francisco, one of the more ...

  • Jimi Hendrix-Live At Winterland

This is a very rare cd of Jimi Hendrix and the Experience from 1968, released in 1987, with Mitch Mitchell and the late Noel Redding, that is very good all the way through from start to end. It is not as fresh and excellent sounding as the "Jimi Hendrix Experience- Live At Monterey" cd, but it is not far from it. Jimi sounds a bit burned out, not fresh like the Monterey cd, like Lennon was after the Beatles, but this cd is still very good. They do Cream's "Sunshine Of Your Love" with no vocals at all on it, but the guitar sound that Jimi plays on the song is very excellent, and I have not heard Jimi do a live version of this song on any other cd that has been released so far. If you are a guitar player, I am sure that Jimi's playing on this cd can influence anyone on their technique of ...

  • Somewhat scarce CD. OUt of print. A Rykodisc release.

Since this is out of print, and one of only two Rykodisc Hendrix releases, it was automatically entered into my "Must buy" list. With rykodisc, you not only get the neato tinted CD cases (supposing that the seller kept the CD in its original case, which mine unfortunately didn't) but you also get great and usually extensivve liner notes, artwork, and old photographs and retrospectives. This concert is one of the more solide set I've ever heard Jimi play, and he also plays some songs he didn't usually play live. A great, compact, but solid show and Hendrix's guitar sounds clearer, lounder, and, as a result, beffier than usual. Great item, although Ryko's other release by Hendrix, "Radio One," is much better as far as the listening goes, this one is still precious if only because it is ...

  • " Where is the Bass?"

Overall this is a very good CD. My only problem with it is the bass and overall dynamic range is lacking! When I play this CD I have to crank my bass adjustment on my sound system almost all the way to maximum! That is when I can begin to hear and feel Mitch Mitchell's bass drum and Noel Redding's bass . The midrange and treble are just fine! I should not have to turn my bass adjustment all the way up to enjoy this CD. Even with that minor issue I think this CD is very good!

  • Winterland

Probably Jimis best concert recording with the Experience in terms of fidelity and musicianship. A superb performance throughout at San Franciscos Winterland Ballroom. On a US tour with the Experience (Noel Redding, bass & Mitch Mitchell drums) the band has tightened considerably since Hendrix' American debut at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. Included in the set list are well played renditions of classic hits such a Hey Joe & Purple Haze, as well as an amazing version of Sunshine of your love (A virtuoso jam on the Cream classic) Tax Free (released on the LP War heroes as a studio recording), but the best performance of all is Red House. This is simply the most articulate rendition of the song available and is a MUST listen for blues lovers everywhere, never mind Manic Depression or ...
