This Modem didn’t claim to work w/ Windows 10. The Netgear Install disk (if you have it) works only through Win 7. No Big Deal. The Manual Setup for Win 10, Apple and Linux is pretty self-explanatory. Read the owners manual (available online) prior to using this Modem. Memorization is not required, but as you are plugging in the answers, it will help if you know what the heck the setup is asking for. All Netgear needed from me was my DSL user ID & password. Because I access the Internet dynamically (DHCP) over the Ethernet (PPPoE), the Modem figured out my IP address and filled in the proper numbers. Sweet! If your IP address is static, you’ll have to enter the required info. Your ISP probably gave you a list. Once you’re online with this new Modem, change the Modem’s login PW, and turn off Universal Plug ’n Play (UpnP).Read full review

No install cd, used different brand power supply (Linksys), had been used-had to do full reset to gain access. Seems to work ok.

If you use your internet a lot and use the wireless functionality of this unit it will begin to overheat regularly. The longer you use it the more this will happen. I've owned two of these and they both did/do this. I use a seperate router for all the wireless access and networking funcitons now. After setting that up, I stopped having problems.

This router works great with my Telco in Israel. It is flashable with Openwrt as of 18.0.6 Setting up the device to make it work as a bridge and also being able to access its interface with Openwrt is pretty tricky and requires either managed switch or a firewall appliance capable of VLANs (such as Pfsense) and obviously a network card that is capable of VLAN tagging. Can't comment on its original firmware since the first thing I did is to flash Openwrt on it. Another caveat, it seems to sync (VDSL2) at a slightly lower rate then the original ISP provided modem. Its only slightly so, so I don't think it really affects internet speed in a measurable way.

I bought this for a friend who had her wi-fi version of this model go bad after 5+ years. She didn't have a need for wi-fi. Setup is easy, works fine. Just copy the basic settings off the old one and remember the old DSL login and password. The unit produces some heat so make sure it is in a location that has decent ventilation.

Right out of the box, went to set-up page and had modem online in less than 5 minutes. If you are able (and not quite sure what you're doing) go to netgear site and download manual for reference. If buying used, make sure to hit reset button (on back) before you do anything. The 2nd thing you must do is go to netgear and download latest firmware. The 3rd thing you MUST do is change the generic password from "password" to . . . All took less than 5 minutes.

I have Windstream for my internet provider. They had been providing a modem that I could connect my router with WiFi to. There modem went out so I ask them to send me a replacement. Windstream now charges rent for equipment. They sent a cheap all in one unit. I could not connect to WiFi two rooms over. Ten dollars a month for something that did not work for me. I ordered this Netgear DM111PSP and replaced there unit and connected the WiFi router I had been using. Work great so far.

I was previously using a combination wireless router/modem but It kept on having issues. Since I already own a nice wireless router I decided to go with a purpose-build device that just handles the modem end of things. I put it in bridge mode and there you go. I've got a stable connection to my internet provider.

Now considering that the speed for upload and down load has better spec's then most DSL carrier's supplied modem: I speed tested both configurations and did notice the difference for network speed. It increased my upload/ download rate at 450MB then the carrier's supplied modem. Now connecting it to a gigabit router; this modem / router configuration will make your internet fly as compared to Broad-bands bragging rights of 25mb download speed; and I had both types of service. If you can score one here on Ebay for 20.00 you're getting a great deal and a functional high speed DSL modem.
I bought this modem 6 years ago at Best Buy for $29.99. It has been a work horse, mostly problem free all that time. I got my moneys worth. It lasted longer than the warranty. Great Value! It does get Very warm, so air flow is important. I recommend a small fan to help it stay cool.
