There's no single genre on Wii that has more of a hit and miss factor than first-person shooters. Ubisoft kicked things off with Red Steel during Wii's launch, while the sleeper hit (and unexpected) Call of Duty 3 stole the show for the system's first round. Fast forward another year, and we've seen the bar raise substantially, with titles like Medal of Honor Heroes 2 topping the charts, and developer High Voltage Software teasing The Conduit for an early 2009 release. The Wii certainly has its highs, but as anyone unfortunate enough to end up with Quantum of Solace Wii during this holiday season will undoubtedly be able to vouch, the system also has its unmistakable lows.
I love this game, I just got to the Casino Royale portion of the game in single player & so far, it's great. I remember playing the N64 007 games with my friends as a kid. Obviously the Ps3 version is probably better & the wii w/nunchuck controls aren't the greatest. But the game itself is very fun. It has online play too.
I thought I had a bad product/lemon, but after reading online posts/reviews, discovered that this game is full of glitches that cause game freezing. The problems range from total freeze with loud buzzing sound to unable to advance in the game because the system didn't load the next stage. In both cases, the game will have to be restarted. The first problem sometime even requires a hard shut down of the the system, not just a soft restart. It is frustrating, but if freezing is encountered, there are work arounds, usually limiting the number of baddies in the game to reduce memory writing errors to the Wii. For example in the 4th level: skink hole, instead of staying at the helicopter, walk back up the hill and take out enemies from the ridge. Staying at the bottom with the helicopter froze my game 100% of the time. It will take patients to work around the glitches/restart. Good game for those who have been devote followers of the Nintendo Bond series that started with Golden Eye. However, this game is not any where near the same caliber as previous Bond shooters.Read full review
I love the controls for this game. You use the wii remote to direct your character while moving and to look side-to-side and up/down. the nunchuck joystick is used for moving forward and backward and strafing side-to-side. this is what I was hoping for from a wii shooter game. The only negative I have found with this game is the multiplayer. You can only play multiplayer with up to 4 people and you cannot add any computer controlled players. This really sucks compared to past bond games, but other than that this is a very good game!!
Yes, there are some framerate issues. Yes, it doesn't play as nice as GoldenEye. But I love how they took the plot of both movies and mixed it up into basically a different, yet similar, plot that made sense along with the scenarios you were put through. I also like the duck-and-cover system, which would have been nice in GoldenEye. If you HAD to pick between this and GoldenEye, I'd pick GE. But GE also runs $25-30 on eBay and this runs less than half, so you decide. I played both and had fun on both. Some sites have terrible reviews for this game. Don't believe it. It's fun and probably even longer than most FPS.
