Synopsis
The best-selling, uncensored diary of Anaïs Nin during the year she spent with Henry Miller and his wife in Paris--a thrilling and passionate account of sexual awakening. From the original, uncensored journals of Anaïs Nin, Henry and June spans a single year in Nin's life when she discovers love and torment in one insatiable couple. From later 1931 to the end of 1932, Nin falls in love with Henry Miller's writing and his wife June's striking beauty. When June leaves Paris for New York, Henry and Anaïs begin a fiery affair that liberates her sexually and morally, but also undermines her marriage and eventually leads to her psychoanalysis. As she grapples with her own conscience, a single question dominates her thoughts: What will happen when June returns to Paris? An intimate story of one woman's sexual awakening, Henry and June exposes the pain and pleasure of a single person trapped between two loves., The best-selling, uncensored diary of Anaïs Nin during the year she spent with Henry Miller and his wife in Paris??--??a thrilling and passionate account of sexual awakening., This bestseller covers a single momentous year during Nin's life in Paris, when she met Henry Miller and his wife, June. • Interesting Book

The book arrived in excellent condition for a used book. Henry and June has lots of sexual content but is worth reading. The book is written from the point of view of the author, Anais Nin. I would have liked to hear the story from June Miller's point of view.

  • Truth and Sexual Fantasy

Written in a time where sexuality was taboo, Anais Nin did not have this work published until all parties had deceased. Hugo was the last to die. Not only is this work telling, in a prewar tale of lust, desire, and coping with her conflicting needs, Anais takes us to Paris while Henry Miller is working on the "Tropic of Cancer". Henry and June's marriage, Anais' attraction to both of them, and her conquests with her many lovers. A woman who followed her impulses, but was afraid of them. Who struggled to find that perfect orgasm in life and explored her tendencies through therapy. Ultimately, seducing her own therapist. Frank, direct, and almost a kindred spirit to me. She had the courage to write her story, but was afraid to publish during her time. However, rather than ...

  • An interesting read, if you're willing to take the trip.

I can tell you, I've heard people refer to Anais Nin as many things, such as "adulteress" and "sick." What many people fail to realize that it's easy to judge a person nowadays in hindsight, but its not many are willing to put themselves in their shoes to make such judgements. You may not agree with some of the things she did, but they were her choices. And the fact she was willing to share her mistakes and achievements in full detail instead of keeping her mistakes hidden in an attempt to make herself look good in a positive light (for those who don't know, the Unexpurgated versions of her diaries were done after her death and her request, and the first printings were heavily edited). That being said, I feel that reading "Henry and June" gives us a full point of view on not just Anais ...
