Purchased this to replace my cable internet... and got this to set up a wireless network from an AT&T 6MB ADSL setup. Generally works well for streaming Hulu and Netflix, and surfing. Sometimes there is lag though, but it is tolerable, considering this is about half of what I paid Comcast, and seems to deliver all the speed and access required to run 3 PCs, 2 tablets, and 2 streaming devices. Note: Configuration is dependent on receiving a network password from AT&T.
This modem has been extremely reliable for me. Stays connected. Never reboots itself. ** I don't use the built-in router, nor the built-in wireless... I strictly use the DSL-2640B for its reliable DSL modem function.** I have always put my DSL modems in "bridge" mode, and then connected them to a separate wireless router; the separate router establishes the link to the ISP and connects to all my computers/phones/games (for years I used a DI-634M router, and have recently switched to a DIR-655 router, both excellent routers with this modem).
D-link products are good.

I purhased this router becase the firmware was blessed by Microsoft for XBOX LIVE connectivity. Specifically so my children could have two XBOX 360s connected to LIVE at the same time. I'm sure the router is OK but I never did get it to connect with my AT&T DSL at my rated download speed. I ended up with another 2Wire router. This router may be great - but since I couldn't figure it out I don't give it very high marks. I am a computer support engineer.
Perfect solution for DSL based broadband. Easy setup and has excellent connection management capabilities. If you use ATT DSL and are having connection issues, this is the DSL modem and router you should buy.
