About this product

Product Information

Discover what the life of a soldier during World War II was like firsthand with Call of Duty 2 by Activision. Load the disc into your PC and explore the European theater of war with people from around the world in this massive multiplayer option. Fighting goes from North Africa all the way to the cold tundra of Russia.Released in 2005 and published by Activision, this PC game is the second installment of the Call of Duty first-person shooter action games. World War II is the stage setting for the story, and the campaign mode lets you pick between four different characters. Join the Red Army, US Army or be one of two soldiers in the British Army. Each of the four individual campaigns is broken into three distinct stories, creating a total of twenty-seven full in-game missions for you to explore, conquer, and enjoy. When playing against the computer, you are able to enjoy a more competitive experience due to an ultra-smart artificial intelligence. Computer-controlled characters on your team even have different personalities and act accordingly while in battle. Play through the missions at your own pace and in the order you prefer when in the campaign mode. Many of the original features and mechanics of the first Call of Duty return here in the sequel. One of the largest differences, much to the benefit of combat ease and player happiness, is regenerating health. Another useful change is that the game now indicates an on-screen icon when an explosive is about to detonate near you.The Call of Duty 2 controls are very similar to those of the first, and fans of shooter action games will find it a breeze to adapt to the gameplay. You can crouch, lie flat on your stomach, and climb low walls and other obstacles in your exploration of each stage. A large variety of firearms can be obtained throughout the game, and you can carry two on you at any time. Explosives include fragmentation and smoke grenades devastate or incapacitate your enemies and change the tide of battle. Aim your gun down the iron sights for more accurate, controlled firing. Check the compass on the HUD to determine where both your allies and enemies are located and to double check the target goals for each mission. The online campaign in Call of Duty 2 is one of the more expansive campaigns of the series. Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and other mission types pit you, your friends, and a team of strangers against each other on maps taken from the main game's content. These include Africa, Normandy, and Russia. The weapons available to you in multiplayer depend on what map you choose, and you can be either an American, British, Soviet, and German soldiers. The PC online server can have up to 64 total players at a time, which is an innovative and impressive design for games at the time of the Call of Duty 2 release. Call of Duty 2 is rated T for Teen.

  • Great Epic World War II Game!

Good Game Game Play This game starts with you being tossed a gun in the middle of the war torn Russian Front defending against the Nazis as a grunt in the Soviet Army. Although the game starts out tough (I had set on normal or medium) after you die a dozen or so times (It puts you back almost where you left off most of the time) you learn the ropes of being a solider during World War II. By the time I beat the Russian and British Campaigns to get to the American Campaign I was dying a whole lot less and had learned and devised my own tactics and ways around certain missions. Sound The sounds were outstanding as each gun shot sounded unique according to the environment you were occupying. Tanks sounded like Tanks, Planes whizzing by my head almost made me duck, Nazi Troops barking orders ...

  • Excellent action-packed game with superb fun, initially

It ALWAYS leaves my heart pounding as the intense infantry combat and great graphics are better than anything out there. You can read all the positives about this game on the other reviews, but here are my negatives, specifically for the network version, which is the one we all play after doing the easy campaign: too much run and gun - careful positioning and concealment is useless; running around and blasting wins the game bunny hoping - still pays off cheaters on the network - lots and lots... aimbots, clippers, etc. rifles are generally useless - unless you're cheating, you don't gain much over the overly-accurate and powerful machine guns Because of the combination of all the points above... I've basically stopped playing. Red Orchestra is my new love. Still, this game gets your ...

  • probably the best COD game in the series

As we all know there are tons of WWII games but only a handfull of them are worth buying this is definitly one of them One thing new that most peaple will or would like is the Russian campain which wasnt done before this game (and in my opinion is one of the best parts of the game.) The game does have its cons though, such as the fact that after a while killing germans can get old. There is another fact that makes this game a bit repetitive and that is in every call of duty or medal of honor game involves Normandy(the storming of omaha beach.) which gets sort of old after 5 video games. The weapons are very cool there is just no other way to say it pretty much every weapon in the game is awesome like the thompson, the ppsh41,and the sten. bascally I recomend this to COD or MOH fans or ...
