About this product

Product Information

This package contains BioWare's breakthrough D&D-based computer RPG, Neverwinter Nights and its two expansion packs, Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark.

While fantasy role-playing on the computer is nearly as old as video gaming itself, Neverwinter Nights may be the first electronic game to add the elements of creative, loosely scripted storytelling that define the pen-and-paper role-playing experience. As in the many previous computer RPGs based on Dungeons & Dragons rule sets, Neverwinter Nights allows players to create their own hero characters, choosing a from a variety of fantasy races and professions, then play the part of that character to interact with other heroes, villains, and monsters that exist under the same system of rules and statistics. Yet unlike its electronic predecessors, Neverwinter Nights also allows one player to become the Dungeon Master, who can bend and append the rules of the game on the fly, in order to tell the best possible version of the story and allow players to more fully assume the roles of their characters. In addition to the tools players need to create and host their own adventures, the game comes with a fully-developed, 80-hour single-player module.

Players can return to the Forgotten Realms for a new adventure in Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide. The add-on's story takes place during the same time period as the Neverwinter Nights campaign, but players won't be able to explore Neverwinter because of a plague. Instead, the new quests take players east into the desert of Anauroch. An ancient race of wizards, the Netheril, constructed cities that floated through the air, but when the Netheril civilization collapsed, their cities plunged and crashed. The ruins, such as Undrentide, remain full of powerful monsters and magic. During the new 40-hour campaign, players can access 50 new spells, 30 new feats, and several advanced character classes (only available after meeting specific criteria). Three new tile sets -- Desert, Ruins, and Snowy Rural -- are available for module creators.

Heroes of Neverwinter face great new dangers to win unprecedented rewards in Hordes of the Underdark, the second official expansion pack for BioWare's continuing Dungeons & Dragons epic. Set in the heart of the Forgotten Realms, this adventure leads heroes from the fabled city of Waterdeep to the depths of Undermountain. Unlike the otherwise well-received Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark is designed for higher-level characters, allowing players to continue to challenge and develop favorite heroes they may have guided through the original Neverwinter Nights campaign or the first add-on adventure. Hordes of the Underdark also adds two more tilesets to the game, offering module designers even more options for creating their game worlds.

All six issues from the lot arrived neatly packaged in the advertised VG condition, with an added pencil drawing of one of the characters! A delightful personal touch to what was already one of the most clearly cared for deliveries I’ve received from a seller on here, despite it being a c-list title. Much appreciated! I’ll be browsing the rest of their selections.

  • Neverwinter Nights

This game is from Bioware and TSR, the authors of Baldur's gate. Like it is relies on the rules of Dungeons and dragons. It's very ric with many new spells and items and a very immersive story, especially with the inclusion of the two add-ons providing for a very long play time and trully epic story. When compared to Baldur's gate, one can regret the smaller size of the party or the inability to use the compagnon's inventory, although it is back in the expansions. The game may appear a bit old but the developpers made players modifications (mods) really easy and there is still a very active fan community providing tons of free, fan made, additionnal adventures available on the web. As for an official sequel, Never Winter NightII has just been announced.

  • Neverwinter Nights Platinum

I purchased this title since it was an RPG that seemed to be similar to Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (my favorite RPG of all time). Neverwinter Nights Plantinum performed well as far as graphics are concerned (though not above average) and gameplay wasn't entirely bad. It moved quickly on my computer with little loading time. It has some of the same types of features as Morrowind (you can transport yourself back to the main base to recoup some of what you have lost or regroup yourself for a better attack), but these features are lacking in comparison. After playing Morrowind, this game was disappointing overall. The lack of a first-person view, some really irritating camera angles and NPC voices that only spoke the first line of what they had to say really detracted from the enjoyment ...

  • Great game

This game is great. It provides a faithful recreation of the Forgotten Realms, and was crafted with loving detail. Any fan of Baldur's Gate will love this game. I liked the in-game "books" too, which also serve as a great way to get your feet wet with Forgotten Realms lore, and just adds to the depth of the game. Cons: The help text in the game isn't very useful, so if something sounds confusing in-game (such as Monk abilities, related to armor equipped), look for a faq online.

  • One of the BEST RPG Transitions to PC EVER!!!

Not only is this one of my favorite RPG's of all time, it's also one of the best Dungeons and Dragons to game translations I've ever seen. It's got most everything, even -tumble-. Not only that, but the storyline is interesting, and the add-ons are amazing. Neverwinter Nights with its two expansion packs: Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark.the original Never Winter Nights; Platinum Edition, but the entirety of it was amazing. It had been quite a few years since I played this game and it has stood the test of time, in my humble opinion, even though it is not using the new "Pathfinder" Rules. I think that this actually adds to it's authenticity as the older D & D game (D20 system) has remained my preference for actual game play. The BEST simulation of D & D on the PC. It was ...

  • One of the Best PC RPGs

Even though the game was released several years ago and the graphics are showing their age, Neverwinter Nights is still one of the better gaming experiences with extremely deep story and interesting characters. This game is based off of the Dungeons & Dragons universe, pitting your hero (and your friends' if you work over the internet or LAN) against countless wild beats, undead and other classic fantasy monsters. Along the way you will meet animated characters that will help you in your journey, uncover mysteries and grow to be a hero of epic proportions. The Platinum Edition includes both expansions to the original game: Shadows of Undertide and Hordes of the Underdark, allowing you to explore all of the games features and enveloping story. Character leveling is fairly complex, ...
