Jimmy Buffett "has gregarious charm . . . and a bottomless well of stories to tell. . . . Reading A PIRATE LOOKS AT FIFTY is like sitting with Buffett at a beachside bar, listening to him spin tales . . . discourse on life and share nifty bits of geography and history." --Time "Fulfilling his peripatetic pirate lifestyle fantasies, rocker Jimmy Buffett took his family on a three-week trek around the Caribbean in celebration of his 50th. His colorful travelogue is interspersed with memoirs of his youth and music career--both of which revolve around his continuing search for the perfect fishing spot. But Buffett also imparts useful understandings gained from childhood through parenthood, and a valuable account of what it was like growing up in the '50s." --USA Today "The fun-loving Man from Margaritaville parses his hell-bent half-century." --People "Some of the funniest travel writing since Mark Twain went off following the equator . . . This man does know how to have fun. So it shouldn't surprise anybody that he'd turn fifty in his own inimitable fashion." --The Arizona Daily Star From the Paperback edition., Jimmy Buffett "has gregarious charm . . . and a bottomless well of stories to tell. . . . • A Pirate Looks at Fifty

Jimmy writes as if he's sitting across the table with you, beer in hand, and a warm breeze blowing! His use of common language and vernacular draw you into the stories he tells as you feel like you are experiencing the moments along with him. He stirs the imagination brilliantly yet with a common style of writing that any level of reader will understand. His stories are amazing and wild and crazy! What an adventurous life he was fortunate enough to love! Yes, love! Fabulous book!

  • A Pirate Looks at Fifty

Jimmy Buffett is a multi-talented artist & author. I have read all of his books except "A Pirate Looks at Fifty." I suspect it will be another great page-turner!

  • A Fun Read!

I normally read more serious stuff. I thought I'd take a break and see what Jimmy had to say. Glad I did! It's an easy read, and a fun read. This really isn't the story of a rock star, it's about a guy that loves not only music, but fishing, sailing, flying--and life in general. He has logical reasons for the things he does. If you like to fish, read this book. If you like to sail, read this book. If you like to fly, read this book. If you want to hear some good stories, read this book. There is a little salty language, but it's not bad.

  • Easy & fun reading!

Great book! Great author! Great guy!
