    Nice upgrade for old HTPC

    Used this to replace an old AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600 in an old HTPC that’s been collecting dust for a while. Wanted to give it a little boost so my son can use it for school work. This was the fastest processor I could install without having to replace everything. It came well packaged, installed without issue and has been running for several weeks without any crashes, so it appears to be working properly.

    A great balance of power and effeciency

    A great choice for a home server. Four cores provide more than enough power for server-side rendering of media, as well as hosting a virtual machine at a reasonable speed. Also, it does it while using less power and generating less heat than the standard quad core CPUs. If you're building a desk top I'd recommend the non "e" model for speed, but for "not week, but not steroid laden" server this chip is probably the best AMD CPU overall.
