Within Temptations most ambitious staging to date, BLACK SYMPHONY was a unique concert at Rotterdams Ahoy Arena on February 7, 2008 sold out months in advance. Within Temptation performed to 10, 000 fans with the 60-piece Metropole Orchestra and a 20-voice classical choir, as well as on-stage stilt performers, costume changes, and an array of stunning pyrotechnic and lighting effects. The colossal production extended to Europes largest video screen reaching across the entire width of the stage, and 14 full HD cameras. Special guests on the night included Keith Caputo (ex-Life of Agony who is featured on their single "What Have You Done"), Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering), and George Oosthoek (Orphanage). Kerrang! Magazine awarded the concert it's highest 5K rating and described it as "the best show on earth."

    Great Band, Great Concert, but....

    I've seen this band live and is monumental. Everything is just perfect and I really love them. Sharon's voice is even better live and her moves are a thing to watch. This concert was very promising, with three cool guests and a symphonic band, unfortunately Sharon got a cold and made the concert a bit difficult to hear. She didn't move as usual and she couldn't reach the notes of many songs. It's a shame that it wasn't as expected, but it's a must for fans. The documentary is great, though. I just hope I can see them live again, with Sharon on full health.

    The Next Best Thing to a Live Performance

    This is an awesome CD/DVD pair! I wish the CD had all the songs from the DVD. My only complaint for the DVD is that there are a lot of shots of the audience. It shows how the audience was reacting to the performance, but I paid to watch Within Temptation, not the audience. The show is full of energy and good chemistry between the band and the orchestra. Sharon's voice is strong throughout the entire performance. I recommend Black Symphony to anyone who wants to see Within Temptation perform but can't afford to go to Europe to do so, like me. Two thumbs up, and if I had more thumbs I would give even more.
