    Best Bang for Watts. Re-purposing. An Industrial Control Transformer.

    Best Watts for your Buck. Re-purposing Used control Transformers into HV sweep tube Plate Transformers Ever tried to price a new1KVA vacuum tube plate transformer ? Cost is prohibitive. This a 1 KVA hunk of "Iron". I am using these type of transformers in linear amplifier applications. 120 AC v in. 460-0-460 out, Its called. Back feeding. Bear in mind this is a single phase transformer. Its a must. When back feeding. Use a Soft start circuit on the former output now input side of the iron. I discovered by trial and error. Putting two 1KVA of the same identical transformers is better than 1 2KVA transformer. Same Juice. But the 2x 1kva is a few pounds lighter than the 2KVA. Seems to hold true for the Dongans and GE. types single phase. 2x Dongan 1KVA will be used in the application ...
