About this product

Product Information

With Astronomy Today, Sixth Edition , trusted authors Eric Chaisson and Steve McMillan communicate their excitement about astronomy and awaken students to the universe around them. Thoroughly updated, the revised edition focuses on the process of scientific discovery and scientific method, making "how we know what we know" a more integral part of the text with attention to clearly and concisely presenting scientific terms to the non-science student. In addition, the authors have taken great care to identify places where they could clarify or simplify an explanation, better define a term, and discuss the process used in making a discovery. This edition offers the most complete and innovative learning package available for one- or two-semester introductory courses in astronomy. Alternate Versions Astronomy Today, Volume 1 : The Solar System, 5/e - Focuses primarily on planetary coverage for a 1-term course. Includes Chapters 1-16, 28. Astronomy Today, Volume 2 : Stars and Galaxies, 5/e - Focuses primarily on stars and stellar evolution for a 1-term course. Includes Chapters 1-5 and 16-28.

  • Perfect!

The book was required for a class I am taking. Good book, great illustrations. It's easy to understand for the most part. Questions at the end of each chapter a little difficult. Worth the purchase!

  • Great book

The books is in almost new condition and very educational.

  • Great price, almost the same content as newer edition.

The 7th Ed. was required for my class, but I bought this one instead (6th ed). No problems so far, page numbers are a little different but other than that it has been fine. Glad I didn't pay the extra $130!

  • Book arrived exactly as advertised.

I bought this book because of a personal current interest in astronomy. I walk my dog in the evening and we look at the stars together. It was a great deal compared to books on astronomy from book stores and the textbook format assumes you know little of the subject...just right for me.

  • Great Alternative to expensive books

The only thing I didnt realize the concept maps and review wasnt included, but that was my mistake. This book is a great alternative to the others I have found.I would definataly use this seller again,
