When packing a laptop for travel, shorter is better if you have a power strip, and you will want one! Remember the AC cord on the charger is fatter and heavier than the DC cord (usually USB), and you have to carry every ounce. Add in a phone, a laptop, and the cords to the "bricks" all add up.
