Windows and Walls: Dan Fogelberg walking in the shadows
Released in 1984, this album conveys a richness of emotion that sweeps me up everytime I play it. From the hopefulness of 'The Language of Love,'and 'Believe in Me,' the late artist then quickly swings to the sweet-sadness of 'Sweet Magnolia,' and the haunting lonliness in the title song 'Windows and Walls,' and even daring to venture into darker waters with 'Tuscon, Arizona(Gazette).' Wrapped together with Dan's typically-impressive soft-rock guitar work, this album is a great addition for any fan of the artist. I originally had the cassette back in '84,' and was very happy to find it finally released on CD. There is one warning to buyers: this an extremely short album with only eight songs. 23 Years Old and Still a Great Album
Like much of Dan Fogelberg's work, Windows and Walls varies greatly from his other recordings. This CD is reflective and can have a darker mood than some of his other work, but I do love it a lot. "Believe in Me" is absolutely gorgeous and has been timeless for me over the years. I think each time I hear that cut, it's as fresh as when I was in college. I have said in other reviews that Dan Fogelberg was such an incredible talent, hearing his albums for the first time (many years ago!) was always a treat because you had no idea what "approach" the album would have. Now that the music is all that remains, do get a collection of various CDs and ENJOY! Excellent songs!!
As Dan is my most favorite artist, this album is in true Dan style. All are great , great songs!! My favorite "Tucson,Arizona" is a masterful song story that truly draws you in and captures your imagination..."Believe In Me" is a wonderful love song . Dan is a master at capturing the emotion he wants to convey in each of his songs. He does this so well in "Windows and Walls", it makes me want to hug every old person I see!!! "The Loving Cup" is a very catchy tune, that I find myself humming all day long, too!! From 1984, this CD is timeless, like all of Dan's song!!!As Dan is my most favorite artist, this album is in true Dan style. All are great , great songs!! Not to be missed
A true masterwork. "Tucson, Arizona" stands alone as a remarkable example of the way only a master of the craft can interweave lyric, music, tone and mood. This album is a great mix of great music. Don't miss it.
