  • Great series, can't wait for the next one!

I've been caught up in Rachel Morgan's crazy world since book one in this series, and while I felt there was a lot of unnecessary side-plots in this one keeping her from all the loose ends she had to tie up from the LAST book -- i.e., is she really a demon? Who killed Kisten and why? Will she ever find a way to save Ivy's soul? -- there was still enough satisfying story to keep me engaged and wanting to know more. The really bad part is waiting for the next installment, which could be 6 months to a year (or more?). Gahhh!

  • WHITE WITCH BLACK CURSE - KIM HARRISON (2009)

Kim Harrison is one of the best authors to hit the paranormal circuit. She literally paints pictures with her words! This is, by far, her best work in the ongoing story of the Hollows series, with Rachel Morgan and her vamp & pixie sidekicks. Every page keeps you on the edge of your seat with constant adventure. I especially enjoy how the story, as always, centers around Morgan and her 2 partners; but subtly injects other colorful characters into the scenes to keep the energy high. Those of us who follow 'the Hollows' series are well aquainted with the list of characters coming and going; but a person could read the books out of order because Kim has a great habit of giving the reader a quick fill-in on a situation or person if it/they were in a past book, to bring the reader up to speed ...

  • transition book-read short stories1st @ this point-or incomplete story line

Wonderfully entertaining sries. Story flows seemlessly from one book to the next -EXCEPT- between books 6 and 7(this one)I recommend anyone following this series to read Kim Harrisons new collection of all the short stories associated with the Hollows that Harrison has written over the years. Titled "Into the Woods" and released Oct 9th 2012. Many fragments of these story lines are integrated into book 7 and beyond, but if youve not read them, you wont know many new characters situations/occurances that are referred to from Vo.7 onward. This is a transition book, one can read Vo.1-6 without the short stories, but at book 7 you had better have read those shorts/novellas to continue with complete understanding...

  • Loved it!!

I have read all of her Hollows series. I love them. I think what I loved best about this book and the rest in this series is that there is always a twist ending. I also love that Rachel, the main character, is real. She makes mistakes and she sometimes over reacts. She has to learn things the hard way just the rest of us do. Kim Harrison has made her characters very real. She is also not afraid to take the jump to kill off loved characters. It's sad, but it makes the reading that much more real and heart warming. I really hope she comes out with more to this series. I look forward to reading more from this amazing author!

  • The Whine is On

This latest installment in Kim Harrison's series is somewhat of a disappointment. The heroine, Rachel Morgan has found a whole new level of whiny, and some serious errors in judgment that put people's lives on the line. The death of her lover is finally revealed, and it turns out that he basically did it for nothing. She is now basically a Demon's pet. She is still whining about the relationship with her roommate and its confusingness. She is still whining about the fact that her father is not who she thought it was. She is still whining about her love life, and now is destined for a character that suddenly appeared (if you hadn't read the short story in which he was introduced) and she is still whining...yes, there is more, and it is seriously a drag on what could have been a fantastic ...
