Product Information

Legendary Mexican wrestling sensation El Santo (Rodolfo Guzman Huerta) was also well known for playing a superhero of the same name in many Spanish genre films. In SANTO VS. THE MARTIANS, a group of aliens come to earth determined to unleash a nuclear assault. Terror, destruction, and kidnapping highlight their wicked strategy until Santo catches wind of the diabolical plot and summons his trusty scientist friend Dr. Ordorica for help. To defeat them, our hero steals a transporter belt from the invaders, and follows them back to their vessel where justice is served ala muscle and brawn. The film's finest camp moment lies in a weird musical number performed by Martian women that is sure to put a smile on even the most hardened Santo fan.

    Not a bad movie, except for the silly hats.

    This is surprisingly a good movie. Much in the vein of "The Day the Earth stood still", it tries to show us that we are taking the earth towards a wrong path and the martians are here to save us. Santo, sees that the Martians are here to enslave us, by taking a few of us to Mars and teaching us better. Santo won't go, and that's where the trouble starts. The wrestling is excellent as always, but the plot and the martians, make it dive with its silliness, and the odd twists the plot takes. Once the martians take off their hats with their weapon on top of their heads, they decide to dress like greek gods and take their names, and do little with that. The action is good, the plot is decent, the martians are silly.

    Santo vs. the Martians DVD Review

    This is a Classic!!! It takes me back to when I was a kid in Mexico,seeing these films late at night.This particular one is important because it mixes sci-fi with elements of Mexican Lucha Libre,or wrestling,in a way that endears the people to the hero,El Santo"Enmascarado De Plata".He was a national wrestling hero for almost 40 years!!! The script is clearly a mix of older sci-fi "Invasion" type movies,but when they mixed in the wrestling,it goes far beyond any B-movie in scope. The cheesy Martian costumes and their "special powers" are fun to watch,and there is also a scene in which the female Martians "dance" to kidnap a scientist.Very racy for the time and place(1960's Mexico). So grab some popcorn an put this in your DVD,it beats most of the junk coming out of Hollywood right ...
