This is made possible by Intel Turbo Boost 2.0, which provides for easy customization of clock speeds for enhanced specifications. Equipped with a 6MB buffer cache, the CPU stores data locally for more efficient information processing and retrieval. This translates into faster read and write sequences when gaming or doing professional work. The sizeable cache is complemented noticeably by a front-side bus (FSB) speed of 5 GT/s DMI2. The fast FSB speed helps the Intel processor rapidly communicate with all connected components through the motherboard. Users can take advantage of the rapid transfer rates of the 4690K to install a plethora of compatible hardware accessories. This includes an ample amount of random access memory (RAM). The core supports up to 32GB of DDR3-1333/1600 or DDR3L 1333/1600 types of RAM. The maximum memory bandwidth is designated as 25.6 GB/s. The Intel Core i5-4690K can be used with multiple expansions as well, as it supports Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Express 2.0. This means that users can run the CPU in tandem with one or more graphics cards. It can be the central component in a system worthy of the most advanced games. Conveniently, the processor comes with an integrated GPU as well. Intel HD Graphics 4600 runs at a graphics base frequency of 350 MHz. It can reach speeds of 1.20 GHz. Even with its powerful suite of features, the 3.5 GHz Intel Core i5-4690K keeps temperatures in check. The 64-bit core utilizes power efficiently, and it has a thermal design power (TDP) designation of 88W. It can run at a maximum operating temperature of nearly 163 degrees Fahrenheit. Thermal Monitoring Technologies are installed with the system to ensure that temperatures don’t exceed appropriate levels.

Processor was exactly as described- new, OEM, and in perfect condition. It was not vendor locked. This seller packaged the CPU very well using ESD IC foam sheet in a hard clamshell case, which was then wrapped in ESD bubble wrap. In many ways this is superior even to AMD's retail packaging as the pins on a CPU are better protected/isolated. Expedient shipping, too. This seller was quicker to ship than other parts I bought on the same day from Amazon!

    Excellent performance/price ratio, great overclock, etc.

    So I replaced a G3258 that was in my gaming PC with this. This was the natural upgrade with my Z97 board. I don't know whether it is because my case has a built in fan or what, but I popped this in, and it overclocked to the default settings I had of 4.4 Ghz (for the G3258.) The temperatures are amazing with just the stock cooler, 70C (full load.) I was expecting to buy an after market cooler, which would've been a hassle to fit in my case, but I am happy to know I don't have to do that now. I put the G3258 in an HTPC, and now I have two systems that feel new. I also only paid $210 for this, which was nice considering I paid $60 for the G3258 last year, and this was retailing something like $240 at the time. So basically I got a G3258 and an i5 4690k for $270. I mostly wanted this CPU ...

    i5-4690K: Tried-and-true CPU for the money...

    If you are just looking to set up a task specific system (gaming, streaming, etc.), jumping to the overclocking/benchmarking world, or a hobbyist simply looking for an excellent CPU with excellent power consumption characteristics to work off of, look no further. This is one of those CPU's you can't go wrong with and is still widely in use.

    Great quad core drop-in upgrade for people with older systems.

    Great CPU, but you have to realize it's limitations as a quad core processor. I would probably give it 5 stars if it had hyper-threading (which would be really nice), but the price was fair. OCd really easily for me, 4.6GHz stable without increasing voltage, but not everyone will be so lucky. All in all a great drop-in upgrade over my older dual core pentium.

    Really good CPU for its price.

    Even though adding about $40+ more you can get an i7 chip. But the i5 4690k performs excellently. I can finally run a game without it being choppy, frame lagging. Before I had an FX-6100 oc'd to 4.3ghz. It performed okay for being a 2011chip. But it wasn't satisfactory for the reason it made my game play choppy.

    Best mid-range LGA 1150 CPU

    Fantastic for an LGA 1150 socket processor. It can be reliably overclocked and performs great for modern games. Paired with a 212 EVO, it stays reliably around 65 C while under a heavy load.
