  • I LOVE this book for writing class!!!

I really like how this is set out with the examples and exercises but without tiresome drill to kill. We are working through this book from beginning to end with my 7th grade homeschooled daughter in order to get her prepared for essays (especially the impending college essays in a few years), research reports and other writings. She is able to easily work through the content of this book and acquire skills in a great pace not too fast or slow.

  • To The Point...

The reason I purchased this is I write reports for a varied audience and, even though my writing skills are good (in many people's opinions) I wanted to take it to the next level and review what I had forgotten in English Comp. 101. My struggle had been with passive sentences. I had looked at this in another popular book of the last century but this one was what made better sense as far as understanding what I was doing wrong. This has built my confidence back up to where it needs to be with solid skills backed up by this book. Recommend in spite of copyright date--some books don't need to be new and the principles/basics remain the same.

  • Excellent guide on how to write convincingly

Use this book’s list of “transition words” to make your essay more compelling.
