    AKG C414-XLS - Worth every penny and then some!!!

    I've been involved in professional recording since 1969 and have used and owned some of the best microphones in the world. One of the all-time studio standards has been the AKG C414, which has undergone a few changes, or should I say improvements, over the years. Since their introduction in 1986, I have been using the C414-B-ULS as a wonderful studio workhorse for faithfully recording a wide variety of instruments and certain vocals. Now along comes the C414-XLS with a whopping 9 polar pattern selection, incredible low noise, and high sensitivity (loud!!!). As soon as I received my first XLS and gave it a run for its money I was so impressed that I immediately sold off my B-ULS collection and am replacing them with the new C414-XLS (not the B-XLS which has only 5 patterns).     Versatile classic!

    I´m a broadcast sound engineer and I have an chance to try and use lots of different microphones. AKG C414 is one of the few models that still remain in our productions. It´s versatile, sounds VERY good and suits for almost anything you can imagine. It´s also very robust and easy to place because you can use normal mic stand adapters. You can´t go wrong with this one.

    C414 B XLS Microphone

    The 414 has been a mainstay in the audio world for a LONG TIME, this model carries on the same tradition of imparting a soft character to the sound, while remaining unobtrusive and versatile. While many classics are known for their particular "signature", this mic is "at home" on practically ANY SOUND you need and doesn't destroy the essence of instrument. Very Smooth and Dependable!     Awesome mic no studio should be without.

    The AKG is both a great professional AND personal project Mic. Fits well into both contexts and performs like very few others (particularly in the price range). Crisp, clear and punchy. Very transparent sound. It is a timeless workhorse of a mic that NO studio should be without.
