Love seeing this video and being able to share it with our granddaughter. It brought back memories of my childhood and it was fun sharing it with the family that loves horses. They just don't make good movies like this for the kids today.

FLICKA JUST OK
This is a good series...but, unfortunately, the video quality varies considerably....from "just watchable" to "excellent". Despite the disclaimer that "the best possible video sources" were used by Shout Factory, I doubt they tried to access the Fox masters. When the series was shown on Nick-at-Nite in the 90s, the prints were much better.

A Timeless Treasure and 'Love Story'
I purchased a copy of this DVD set and found the quality mediocre not much, if any, better than the privately produced DVD set I have (and others I have seen) with the exception of episode 30, Refuge for the Night, which is in color and pristine (most likely from one of Fox's masters as it has the 20th Century Fox, A Newscorp Company, logo at the very end of the credits). There is one other pristine episode in the set also. Shout Factory added a pristine copy of the series opening to every episode but the quality of the actual episode and end credits varies greatly. I contacted Shout Factory and inquired about the mediocre, varying quality of the episodes as well as the aspect ratio being off and very poor quality of episode 20, The Whip. I was told that the best masters available from ... When I can find the time, amidst my daily equine chores, I plan on comparing what I had before with the Shout Factory DVD set and will provide an in-depth review.
