Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), the sole survivor from the original ALIEN, is awakened after 57 years of drifting through space, her stories disbelieved by Company executives who tell her that the alien's planet is now inhabited and colonized. When contact is suddenly lost with the colonists, Ripley returns to the planet with a squad of marines, an android (Lance Henriksen), and a Company executive (Paul Reiser) with a mission of his own. Once on the planet, no survivors can be found except for Newt, a little girl who awakens motherly instincts in Ripley just in time for the acid-blooded aliens to attack in what quickly becomes a one-sided battle for sheer survival. Considered by many to be the best of the series, ALIENS is a fast-paced, high-intensity thrill ride that set a new standard for action films and cemented director James Cameron's status as one of Hollywood's leading directors following the success of THE TERMINATOR. Weaver received an Academy Award nomination and became a feminist hero for her strong, sensitive performance as the survivor Ripley, while costars Reiser, Henriksen, and Bill Paxton all give career-making performances in this landmark sci-fi extravaganza.

    DVD plays well, case in great shape

    While the DVD was mailed in an unpadded plastic bag, it somehow managed to arrive unscathed. Aside from the mailing, the DVD case was like new and the disc plays perfectly so far.

    Case and disc coated in sticky goo.

    I love this movie; it’s one of the best Sci-fi movies ever made. I haven’t watched this DVD yet but it looks fine. Except for the sticky stuff on it!! The case and the disc are coated in some sticky material, like a coke exploded on it or something, and no one bothered to wash it off. Gross.

    Great follow-up to the original

    This is a great follow-up to the wildly successful Alien. While Ridley Scott and Dan O'Bannon didn't return for this sequel, James Cameron took the torch and continued right where the first movie ended. That said: while the original is a darker and more suspenseful film, Aliens has a lot more action and high-tech gadgetry. The Marine Corps of the future has the same camaraderie of the current Corps, but with some whizbang weapons that have virtually every veteran wishing they were real right now. While military language is prone to be "colorful", especially in the heat of battle, much of the profanity in Aliens is gratuitous. Viewers who find the "GD" term particularly offensive need to know that it's used 16 times in this movie. Aliens became the sequel that launched a franchise, ...

    Best of the series!

    This has to be one of my favorites! Seldom does a sequel rise above the original, but this certainly does. All the characters work to make the wild situations totally believable. Great special effects!

    Aliens is my favorite in the Ellen Ripley saga.

    I personal like the theatrical edition more. But the special edition is still good. "Aliens" is my favorite installment in the Ellen Ripley saga. Along with "Alien Covenant" (warts and all) and "Prometheus".
