About this product

Product Information

The forces of Earth take the offensive in Quake 4, in an effort to eliminate the Strogg menace at its source, once and for all. The fourth edition of id's popular first-person shooter returns to its roots, to offer single-players an extensive adventure in the role of a soldier named Matthew Kane. Ultimately, Kane may be called upon to sacrifice a bit of his humanness, for the sake of humanity's ultimate victory.<br><br>While boasting substantial graphical and audio improvements as well, significant refinements to the A.I., the single-player portion of Quake 4 holds true to the originals, and the story picks up where Quake II left off. The online multiplayer modes of Quake 4 should feel much more reminiscent of Quake III, with their large weapon selection, diverse battle arenas, and intense, kill-or-be-killed gunplay.

  • Very Exciting And Graphically Good Game

I am an owner of both Doom 3 and Quake 4. I love the games that ID puts out because the quality of them never dissapoints me. I must say, however, I enjoy playing Doom 3 over Quake 4. I enjoy being surpised by enemies and being attacked by them while trapped in a corner. In Quake 4 the enemies A.I. is pretty lackluster. Only one enemy actually charges after me (and is very tough to kill!). Other than that you will find yourself shooting at enemies who just stand in one place or strafe to the left or right on occation. This makes them pretty easy to kill and not much of a challenge as they are in Doom. The game runs pretty good on my system. I have all setting's on high with 4x AA and achieve a constant frame rate of over 60 fps. In other games on these settings or lower I often ...

  • What Doom3 was missing, and what Quake4 was lacking

If I were to liken this game to a movie, it would be Aliens. Marines are called in to lay down some bullet-rock on some nasty xenos. That's the plot in a nutshell. Of course, there are subquests (for lack of a better word, since play is 100% linear), but the main story is still well executed. The bonus is that Quake4 has all of the things that kept Doom3 from being stellar. First, your flashlight is actually attached to your main gun. Duh. What a crazy technological advancement! No reason that this should not have been in the original Doom3. Second, everything is dim and shadowy, but mercifully *not* so dark. Doom3 was far too dark, especially without the gun-mounted flashlight. Remember - shadows of what you *think* you see are far scarier than complete darkness. Lastly, your ...

  • Right Game, Right Key Code, Wrong Discs

I love quake 4 along with the whole quake series. I would wait to but it though because quakewars is comming out this summer. When I bought my own computer I bought quake 4 from a seller on e-bay. I got the game fairly quickly and then found out that the CDs didn't work. After inspecting them I could see that the CD was warped slightly to indicate I was sold defective discs. The key code does work and that's all that really mattered because I could install quake 4 from other discs. SO, beware of getting defective discs and the seller blaming it on heat/cold during transport or someother lame excuse. I didn't complain because I had a solution.

  • Very disappointing if you are a quake fan

I was thoroughly disappointed and disgusted with this game. After seeing the previews, I was extremely excited that this may be what I was hoping for with Doom 3. I was sorely disappointed. For starters, the game is dark, very dark when you are inside. This can be fun for a little while, but it is also very disorienting. There were many times I was getting shot at from many different directions, but because it was so dark I was never able to truly see what was shooting at me until my health was nearly down to nothing. Although there are many outdoor areas in the game, it seemed as though a lot of it occured indoors. There is nothing wrong with indoor levels, they just seemed so rehashed from Doom 3 that I was bored after the first few minutes. Fighting in tight corridors is fun for a ...

  • Oky I guess?

I liked that the price was cheap enough was looking for a good 3d shooter was outbid on the games I wanted and settled for this one. It is an older game and my computer is older and looking at the system requirements thought that it might barely make it. Well it didnt run because I never installed the drivers for my card as I had to transfer my parts to another computer because the one I was useing finally died on me from damage from a rain storm, had to reactivate windows XP. Oky so I decided to install the drivers from the CD that came from the card and got that warning not to install them so I ignored it installed the drivers and what do you know! the game worked! only the game play was sluggish like playing in water my movement was to slow tried everything including installing the ...
