horizontal poultry waterers
I raise quail and these horizontal waters work better than any other watering system for them. There is no way they can foul their water. I takes a while before they learn how to use them and it only works on grown birds.

Great way to water your poultry
I purchased a dozen of these watering nipples and installed them on 2 separate watering lines (one indoor and one outdoor). The nipples are fairly simple and seem to work well. I used an 11/32" drill to make the holes in the PVC line. The thread are tapered and self-tapping, so I think it would be fairly important to use the exact size hole to install the nipple. I used a new Sch40 1-1/2" PVC pipe for the indoor pipe and an old Pch40 1-1/2" pipe that I had laying around for the outdoor line. Because the threads are sort of self tapping, I think the installation on the new PVC went better - the PVC was not as brittle and self tapped easier than the older, hard PVC pipe that I had laying around. On the first nipple I installed, I tightened it down against the PVC too hard and snapped ... Because there is no o-ring on the shoulder of the nipple that tightens against the PVC, I thought it would be best to tighten it pretty well. In fact, the tapered threads do a fine job of sealing, so the o-ring is probably not needed. I would advise that you stop tightening the nipple before the shoulder of the nipple tightens against the pipe. I also had one nipple blow out the threads on the PVC. As mentioned above, I used an old chunk of PVC that I had laying around and the PVC was hard enough that it ruined the threads on the nipple. I didn't have any problems like that on the new, softer PVC that I used. Lastly, I did use a wrench to tighten the nipples into the PVC. I was start them threading by hand and then used an adjustable wrench to tighten them down to within a turn or two of being tight on the PVC. Because the nipples are a square shape, using an adjustable wrench is easy and doesn't damage the nipples.

I ordered 12 (1 set) most of them were perfect, 2 had the spring messed up so they didn’t seal.. all in all - the ones that worked (10 out of 12) worked as expected, I only needed 8, so I’m good- well worth the money
