Synopsis
Make sense of the "random" pieces of your life. Get a God's-eye perspective on your problems and unexplained experiences. Discover that you've been in the right place at the right time, every time., Your greatest regret at the end of your life will be the lions you didn't chase. You will look back longingly on risks not taken, opportunities not seized, and dreams not pursued. Stop running away from what scares you most and start chasing the God-ordained opportunities that cross your path. In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day is inspired by one of the most obscure yet courageous acts recorded in Scripture, a blessed and audacious act that left no regrets: "Benaiah chased a lion down into a pit. Then, despite the snow and slippery ground, he caught the lion and killed it" (2 Samuel 23:20 -21). Unleash the lion chaser within! What if the life you really want, and the future God wants for you, is hiding right now in your biggest problem, your worst failure...your greatest fear? Story Behind the Book "Our best days often start out as our worst days. And our greatest opportunities are often disguised as our biggest problems. You can land in a pit with a lion on a snowy day, and it will seem like the end of the road. But God is in the recycling business. He recycles past experiences and uses them to prepare us for future opportunities. That is the story of my life. And that is the story of your life. Look in the rearview mirror long enough and you'll see that God has purposely positioned you everywhere you've been--even when it seemed you'd taken a wrong turn." --Mark Batterson, Your greatest regret at the end of your life will be the lions you didn't chase. Ordered from USA and arrived to me in UK about 10 days later. Book appropriately packaged and mostly as described. Was missing the cd as listed but communication with the seller was friendly and polite if not a little confusing - partial refunds are only offered after you start the formal eBay return request process, they aren't capable of giving refunds after simple messaging to customer service. All in all though, great value and a positive transaction. Would interact again 👍

Unfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.

Have ordered books a number of times from ThriftBooks, via eBay, over the years, and the transactions have always been super-smooth. It was the same way this time. Sturdy packaging for the shipments. Condition / appearance of books was even better than described. As always, an excellent value, particularly with the free shipping as well as the promotional discount for ordering three or more books at a time. Love it!

  • Absolutely invaluable insight into your life plan

What is my value? How should I view challenges? Which path should I follow? These questions inevitably face all of us at times in life, and the answers can be difficult. In a brief book, Mark Batterson addresses how we should perceive of, and face, life's challenges. Often, what seems a difficulty is the perfect catalyst to success. There is a path for us to follow, and how we recognize our opportunities can be a result of how we conceive of our challenges. Each chapter recaps the lessons learned, and the solutions to implement. Mark gives us brilliant and straightforward insights while placing it all in a context that is easy to understand and direct in its message.

  • Buy this book to energize your Christian walk!

Most Christians are meek. No teeth. No roar. Just comfortable to sit in the pew on Sundays. However, if you want more out of your walk with Christ, then this book is an excellent place to start. Mark Batterson, in clear and simple language and applicable examples, has pointed the direction one could take to live a more joyful and excited walk. I would highly recommend this book!
