About this product

Product Information

In the hopeful 1950s, Frank and April Wheeler appear to be a model couple: bright, beautiful, talented, with two young children and a starter home in the suburbs. Perhaps they married too young and started a family too early. Maybe Frank's job is dull. And April never saw herself as a housewife. Yet they have always lived on the assumption that greatness is only just around the corner. But now that certainty is about to crumble. With heartbreaking compassion and remorseless clarity, Richard Yates shows how Frank and April mortgage their spiritual birthright, betraying not only each other, but their best selves.

  • A serious read.

This book is a good choice if you are in the mood for a serious read. It covers failed marriages, abortions, depression and so on. I wasn't sure what to expect and since it had been made into a movie and was recommended by a book club I read it. It is well written and easy to read but dark none the less. Not any hope or happy ever after in this book. The author probably thought he was being realistic. I'm not sure. It's complex though and a fast read.

  • Revoluntionary Road

It was brand new. I didn't realize it was a pocket sized book- Thought it was the bigger version. Oh well, it was easy to hold and carry around- print was just smaller.

  • Well Written, Beautiful, but Sad.

I absolutely fell in love with the writing of Richard Yates, hes discriptions were incredible. When Yates writes about feelings, you feel them. This was one of the best books Ive read in a while, and I went out and bought a collection of Yates short stories soon after. very very good book. Cant wait to see the movie!!

  • Not for Me

I didn't like the film, but decided to read the book since the books are usually so much better than the films. Wrong! I found the book tedious and depressing-even more so than the film! It was a big disappointment.

  • I did not have any problem for receiving the book

I decided to buy this book because I saw the movie, so I was interested to read the book. I liked to know more about the real story and details which are brifly mention in a movie.
