    Moving...forthright...tender. ♥️

I was very moved and touched by Sally Field’s memoir. Many of us assume, erroneously, that people who become stars are special and charmed in every way. But very gratefully, Sally Field describes her childhood with her mother, her aunts, grandmothers, father, stepfather, and the various siblings that she grew up with poignancy, genuineness, and with some gained insight. She felt abandoned by her father, she was abused by her stepfather, and all the while she longed for the love and protection of her beautiful but distracted mother. I believe that her determination to be her own person and some years of good psychotherapy aided in her developing ability to put the “pieces“ of her life together into a coherent narrative. This book was a pleasure to read due to its authenticity and it was ...

    Disappointed in Ms. Sally Field

If you like to read someone whining read this book. Never grateful for opportunities and complaining about every tv show or movie she ever worked on. Sally Field is someone I thought I could admire. Not so. I too was abused as a child -much worse - but wouldn't put up with the person responsible and certainly not just hand out money to my abuser. What a disappointment this book was. Yes I read it from beginning to end hoping for some redemption. Never happens.

  • If you put the pieces together, you get the whole.

The bppk was used, but in almost new condition. It is sure not a happy story, but hardly anything is left out. Critics who say it is poorly written, don't take into account that it is a memoir not a mystery drama or a scientific study. It may seem poorly written because she often jumps back in time, when she remembers a story she wants to relate Other times she jumps forward to tell how a story turned out later. Sally has had schooling in writing. She writes better than some newspeople, and critics. If nothing else, the book shows success in Hollywood is not an easy or smooth road to follow. This is who the real Sally is. I'm reminded of the two masks often used to represent the stage - one laughing and one sad. Life is both. Be proud Sally.

  • Inspiring autobiography with depth.

I thought this book was well written and had a lot of depth when describing all the emotional and psychological pain she was going through. It was a page turner and I couldn't put it down. I normally don't buy celebrity autobiographies but she was very real and candid and I actually learned a lot just from reading of her experiences. I highly recommend it.

  • Perfect title - an in depth look at Sally's life growing up

Sally Field bares it all in this bio of her life growing up in Hollywood, and her life was not the "Flying Nun" life that we all imagined. She shares intimate details of sexual abuse and how she has survived so far. Her portrayal of "Sybil" is closer to how her life really was and believe that is how she was able to give such an outstanding performance with this character. Thank you Sally for sharing your life with us and have loved every movie you have been in so far and look forward to seeing you in more films.
