Although a bit sceptical about 3rd party lenses for my Sony cameras, I was really pleasantly surprised at the results from this lens when used on bot a full frame A99 and a crop sensor A68. The sharpness of this lens is really good at all focal lengths and even wide open, it is acceptable. This lens, although plastic in construction, is made well and feels solid. Both the focus and zoom rings are smooth and the huge petal hood provides excellent protection and shades from glare.

I purchased this lens to use with my first DSLR the Sony A200. I already had a Minolta 28-135 zoom lens which has always met my needs but I decided to branch out into wildlife photography and for this I would need a longer lens. I took some time comparing the different lenses on the market and eventually went for the Tamron. The reasons I chose this lens were the reputation of Tamron and the quality of their lenses and the USD auto focus which is almost silent, a big asset when photographing wildlife. I have now had time to use the lens in a variety of situations and I am more than satisfied with the results. The lens gives pin sharp pictures at all focal lengths and in good light can be used hand held at 300mm with no difficulty. It is quite abit more expensive than similar rival lenses but I am please I opted for it and would have no hesitation in recommending it.Read full review

Tac sharp images at a fabulous price. The stability give an extra 3 stops and works amazingly well. Would recommend 10/10

Seems to be well built and certainly produces sharp images. The lens is rather heavy and is better on a support than when hand held.
