A Beautiful Hidden Gem!
This is the Zelda game all non-Sony owners missed out on. This is a very compelling, charming, no-nonsense game of a little girl in a mysterious town, who is given a drill to save a town filled with monsters. You go through multiple dungeons in a moderately fixed order meeting new characters and engaging with bosses and great light hearted dialogue. Even at certain points you can talk to previous bosses like a normal NPC. Even for the PSP and today’s standards, the game still looks great! Simple cell shading and stylized geometry uses the limitations of the PSP to the game’s visuals to its advantage and it’s wonderful! Plus, if you happen to CFW your PSP, you can bump it to 60 FPS and suddenly the game becomes an incredible pleasure to play. The gameplay is quick and very easy to understand, and special moves are done with special button combos, which feel organic to what the move is from spinning the circle pad to do a flip and striking the ground or pressing both jump and attack to do an uppercut. If you can manage a copy of this game, I highly recommend if you are into light puzzle platforming and action in the form of an RPG, especially for the PSP as it fits so comfortably with its form factor.
