I have been using standard metal wedges ...
I have been using standard metal wedges on wood for years. They always seem to lack that last little bit of spread to split the wood. I can tell just by looking at this one that when that 20lb sledge hammer hits it, that extra width from the wings on it will make a very big difference! I've been using a slate bar to finish prying the wood apart, which is a very big help. I won't be using that bar as much now.
