A bolt-on neck joint on the Ibanez SR505 5-string bass guitar allows superb access to the upper frets of its five-piece jatoba/bubinga neck. Only 4/5 thick at the first fret, the 34 scale neck provides more comfortable playing than standard 5-string necks. Bartolini MK1 pickups and 3-band EQ deliver world-class tone, while the mahogany body provides naturally warm lows and sweet sustain. Rosewood fretboard offers a strong, bright sound and an attractive appearance with a long grain. Ultradurable Accu-Cast B25 bridge offers quick and easy string changes. You will not find this level of quality and sound at this price in any other bass.
I love this Bass, it is my second one. I have been playing on an SR505 for several years and this is the best feeling bass I have ever played. I wanted a backup bass and the best backup possible is having twins. The new SR505 has one extra feature in the model update that was not on the original SR505. This has a fast and slick neck that feels extremely natural to move around no. The active Bartolini pickups sound amazing on just about any amp form the 25w practice amp in the bedroom to the 300W stage amp. This set up allows you to accommodate almost any style, form a rock bass to a jazz and blues groove with just a few tweaks of the tone controls. The fit and finish are excellent, the black chrome tuners and knobs are silky smooth all around and easy to adjust on the fly. If you were paying Price per pound this Ibanez SR505 is the deal of the week. You will not find this level of quality and sound at this price in any other bass. I like the look of this guitar. Great feel as well. It's lightweight and easy to play. For an active pickup guitar, I thought the bass would sound better and have more drive than it has.
