  • Beautiful and good for a beginner

I don't know if I'm the only one that this happened to or if this happened just because I bought mine used, but first thing when I bought it I broke one of the strings. I had to get it replaced (which somehow the guy couldn't use the strings I already had, and when I got my violin back all of my strings were missing...). I also had to purchase a new bow as mine was wrecked. Luckily the guy I bought it from taught me a neat trick to preserving my bow for as long as possible and he took great care with my violin. I'm not too skilled with the violin, although I am very musically inclined. It sounds beautiful to me, and it is perfect for a beginners violin. Which is what I am. If you really think about it though, if you pay $60 for the violin and then $40 to get it re-stringed as well as to get a new bow, you in essence spent $100 on a violin instead of just $60. That being say, I think I would recommend just paying for the $100 violin first instead of this one. Not because I don't like this violin, but it makes more sense financially to me to do that and get a ready-to-play violin the first time versus buying one and having to pay to get it fixed and already replace the bow.

  • great start for student or beginner

here's what i got, 4x4 size violin, strings on plus bow with rosin. a very nice string tuner, easy to use. extra strings plus shoulder rest. plus a case to put it in. if you never tuned a violin, ask a music teacher, look on internet, buy a book, look at you tube. thats where i went to learn. after surfing for sooooo long and trying all methods, i bought a book, bingo done and started learning fast. i never played before but after 2 days i got the hang of it. good luck

  • Mendini full size Violin 4/4 solid wood

I purchase this Mendini Violin just for fun thinking learning to play would be a great hobby.Well I was pleasantly surprised with the quality sound it produces for a rather inexpensive violin. The Violin come in a very nice case with extra strings and rosin for the bow.I f you are looking for a great beginner or intermediate violin this could be the one for you.The only knock against any cheaper grade violin is the strings,You may want to purchase a better quality set of strings for this Violin as they will make it even better.

  • beautiful violin

the violin is beautiful, nice warm tone, has a some small nicks on the corners but that is no big deal not affecting the sound at all. string spacing is nice and even...the bow is in really good condition, the shoulder rest is not the best in the world kind of cheap really, but i have some of my own shoulder rests already. but with all honesty i dont use them when i play the violin anyways, so no big deal there....for the price its an awesome deal...

  • great value for a beginner, pretty decent tone.

This was a good value I was trying to learn on antique 1/2 violin and it was difficult because of size. This is not concert hall but it has a mellow sound and is easy to learn on.

  • Great Deal for Beginners!

I'm a beginner fiddle player, and I was not looking to spend a lot of money to buy an instrument. After much research, I decided on this package. I am very satisfied with it! The local music store had a very similar violin for sale for $100 more - just for the violin alone. The varnish on the violin did arrive nicked in some places, which is disappointing considering the instrument is brand new, but it sounds pretty good and that's what counts. The bridge had come undone during shipping, but with the help of the little instruction pamphlet the instrument came with and good ole' youtube, I got everything put together and then tuned the instrument myself. All in all, I think this is a great deal for beginners. Now I am free to learn and make mistakes on an instrument that did not cost a small fortune.

  • Great first violin to try out this instrument with

The price for a better intro violin was excellent. The violin was able to be set up at a violin shop! And the bow/stick was adequate. I wouldn't spend my money on a beginning instrument other than one of this quality. If you or your student/child decides they want to get more serious with the violin then later you can purchase a more expensive one. I had the bridge changed to an aged maple one with ebony insert for the E string. The bridge itself was only about $10, but the cost to shape and fit it properly to the violin added $50. And I purchased a better resin for only $4 at the local Violin studio. Whether a violin is inexpensive or expensive the bridge must be setup properly along with the sound post to achieve good tone and playability on the fingerboard. Setup also depends on whether one will play the instrument as a Fiddle or a Classical violin.

  • Cant go wrong for the money

Its a great beginner violin. For the price it has a pretty good sound. Only a professional violin player would be able to tell the difference in sound, but I would expect a professional violinist to buy a more expensive violin. This is perfect for someone wanting to learn on without investing tons of money then realizing they dont like playing.

  • Good quality for a very reasonable price!

I got this for my daughter's 8th birthday. I did not realize that I selected 4/4 size. She tried it several times but it is too big for her. Her instructor told me to get a smaller size which is 1/2 that is perfect for my daughter. Anyhow, this Violin is perfect. I don't usually go by the outside appearance of any instruments, I go by the quality of sound. This one is great for 69bucks. I went to a local music store here in my area and it is about 300bucks here. I would recommend this for a beginner.
