    Entertaining, But Falls Short of a Classic

    Johnny Depp has been cleaned up for the role - his metal teeth and tattoos have been covered up and this was filmed before he became bloated looking. He's suited for his role and is charming. Angelina Jolie is not Garbo, Catherine Deneuve or Grace Kelley, but she tries to assume a similar persona. She's also looking awfully skinny and her hair doesn't look entirely natural. From the front, her face is pretty - especially the eyes and her famous plush lips. Her profile is not flattering - her face looks somewhat flat from that angle. She's no Meryl Streep when it comes to British accents. Watch this movie for the gorgeous Venetian scenery and be certain to watch all the extras. I've longed to visit Venice, but can't afford it. The shots of the Hotel Danieli were impressive. ...

    Funny romantic comedy with dull thriller elements

    Lavish to look at, but little to ruminate about afterwards. Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s romantic thriller The Tourist (2010) is a lovely picture with a very bare bones plot. I still think The Tourist is a fine movie to watch one afternoon for a quick laugh and some sweet romance, but the crime thriller aspects are extraordinarily weak. Dommersmarck’s direction is pretty with John Seale’s gorgeous cinematography. Seale’s wide shots of Paris and Venice are quite breathtaking. Colleen Atwood’s costumes are lavish and sleek with a graceful elegance that fits right in with The Tourist’s rich aesthetic. Donnersmarck could have been more daring with more intimate romantic conversations for the flirting scenes, which I still enjoyed. He definitely should have tried something new for all ...

    My wife & I wanted to watch a good movie to relax too, I put on this movie because I figure she might like it, most of the movies I watch she don't like. But as soon as the movie started she started to like it. Venice was a beautiful place to set the movie, the actors were beautiful & stylish & the story was interesting, she was hooked & by the end of it...she loved it...so if you haven't seen it you should. We were entertained...my wife wanted to watch it again.
