Good and strange
I love Rush! Never saw them live, so I got this and Live In Rio. The first half of this show was 5 stars easy. They came out and rocked. Then things got weird. Neil performed a jazz drum solo which featured Buddy Rich among others. I know Buddy influenced Neil heavily ( along with The King: John Bonham), but jazz don't jive at a rock concert. Then, Geddy and Alex went all acoustic and transitioned to cover songs and an unimpressive track list. Fortunately, they finished the set with Limelight and were spot on! Yet another very worthy recording of a Rush concert. The musicianship is superb. I especially enjoy this package since it also contains audio CDs of the DVD concert which I can listen to on my stereo or in the car without having to be tied to the TV screen. I find my interest in the band and their music is greatly enhanced by watching them perform their songs live in order to see how they play. It's also evident that they thoroughly enjoy being on stage. After forty years and many albums, they deserve to retire from the road and relax a bit. Age does finally catch up to us. This concert includes a few selections from their Feedback CD featuring some of their favorite tunes by other 60's bands.I always enjoy hearing covers of those songs from my teen years which my own bands used to perform back then.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
