I remember Silent Hill pretty much when I had it years ago. It really is a great and creepy horror game in a similar vein as Resident Evil but without zombies. The atmosphere is really spooky and you never know what is going to come out of the fog.

Disc is in great shape. The case on the other hand not so much. Almost looks like it came from a smokers house with some yellowing. The picture didn't do it justice.

Despite the age of this game, the gameplay is both compelling and challenging, but still manageable. Most games as old are either boring because they're too easy or boring because they're too hard to play. Silent Hill has such a nice learning curve that someone like me who has never played it could still wade through.

I recently got into horror games and Resident evil 2 was my first experience. I will say it really did scare me. At one point, where zombies burst through the window and attacked me, I had to turn the game off and resume days later. Its easily understood why Resident evil 2 is considered to be one of the top horror games of all time. However, I began to hear about Silent Hill. I looked up for peoples top 10 or 5 horror games and at least 1 game from the Silent Hill series was on the list. It is known for its psycholgical horror rather than pop-up-and-scare-you horror. So, when I got my copy I could only expect the best. Fortunately, that's exactly what I got and more. The atmosphere it brings about is very disturbing and dark. The infamous fog and darkness, of course, generate this feeling. It's really impossible to see anything beyond the fog or darkness causing the player to depend almost solely on sound (the handy radio which plays static when near enemies). The part about the game that really creeped me out was the 'other world.' Everytime I am there, there are always dead bodies hung on the walls, which are covered in rust and dried blood, and crazy monsters. Also, there were many parts in the game where a loud BANG or CRASH would sound, but nothing would happen. Very unsettling. :) A downside of the game, for me, was the voice acting. While not as tragic as the voice acting in the original Resident Evil, there is still some work to be done. I feel like if the voice acting was more realistic, than the game would have been even scarier (which is hard to imagine because the game is already scary as-is). Also, the player doesn't get the full story in one round of the game. It may take multiple completions in order for the full story to be revealed. This may or not be a good thing (especially for players who find this game super scary, like me!). The controls are a bit slow to react, which is really a bummer when you're trying to run away from a horde of monsters. Even with its outdated graphics and poor voice acting, Silent Hill is a game that will distill fear and disturbance.Read full review
This was one of my nostalgic games I played as a kid and frightened me so bad lol. Great buy. Completes are almost 179 plus. I just got a reproduction case for this. So it costed me less. Has a little wear and tear on front label but other than that it's in good condition.

When I think of horror I immediately go to silent hill 1 and it’s sequel; the atmosphere holds up as sinisterly beautiful and music mentally endearing . The story builds up as the game progresses, not having to rely on previous installments for information, having some of the most strange and complex game scenarios, from sewers to elementary schools.

This game is a real classic. It features a somewhat confusing story line, but that's what makes it so intriguing. You will play through just to find out what is really going on. As you make your way through the town of Silent Hill, it shifts into an alternate reality on many occasions. Various monsters try and make you their next meal as you attempt to solve twisted puzzles so you can ultimately find your missing daughter. The only downfalls this game has are the voice acting can be B grade at times and running down the streets to your next destination seems to be unnecessarily long. Despite these flaws, this game still delivers plenty of fun, surprises, and replay value. This game is a must have for any Silent Hill fan. If you haven't played it and you enjoy survival horror games, get it!Read full review
We first played this game years ago when it came out thru game rentals. It had us hooked!! We played it as a family together figuring out the clues & puzzles & jumping out of our chairs when something came out from behind a building or the wicked sound effects would change. The only downfall is some of the puzzles you would need a strategy guide to figure out - otherwise plan on working on them for awhile. Same with 2,3 & 4. Excellent Graphics for the first time around - they get even better with the next few that came out after. It must be a best seller cause we cant find this game in our local game store or rent it cause it is always checked out! So I purchased Silent Hill & now we have restarted our adventure all over again. Thanks again for putting out a great adventure/thriller game!Read full review
This is a great game and I got it for a great price. It can be very hard to find for such a good price, and the game came packaged very well and fit the description.

Got the goose bumps when saw the movie and strut down the memory lane when I was still playing Silent Hill. The first Silent Hill was released in 1999 for the Sony PlayStation. The plot of the game was centered around Harry Mason arriving in Silent Hill and his subsequent attempts at finding his lost daughter, Cheryl. During the progress of the game, the protagonist Harry finds that his adopted daughter Cheryl has a rather disturbing past as the details of her genesis are revealed. -wikipedia Story:**** It plays with the idea of a ‘realistic’ and the ‘hellish’ form of one place called Silent Hill. Each clue was planted properly for you to understand what ever ending you’ll get. Graphics:**** At that time, it was way ahead than the other game graphics. Gameplay:*** Clues are not too hard to crack and move on, though there are some things that you wouldn’t care about, and at the end was the key reason why you had a different ending. Controls:**** At first it was hard to work with the controls and you’ll die easily in the hands of the fetus guys with knives. After a few minutes, everything would run smoothly and you’ll get the hang of it. Nightmare material: *** I dreamt of the part where the VHS tape was inserted and a ‘The Ring’-like video was shown. Full effect, got me awake the whole night.Read full review
