Dont Let The Bastards Wear You Down - Dee Snider
This is an often overlooked gem from the big daddy of US rock and metal. Not a metal album like we saw with the Widowmaker Cd's, or even any of the 'lighter' Desperado or Twisted Sister offerings. More an insight of just what the guy is capable of. Wether it's the opening track "Hard Core" (which indeed it is. A tribute to old mate Lemmy from Motorhead) to the mellower tracks such as "Cry You A Rainbow" and the Suzette tribute "Ride Through The Storm" (which was lifted from the Desperado Cd). You even have the obligatory cover song (Dion's "The Wanderer") which has a definite tongue-in-cheek ruffian metalhead charm about it (can I say that??!!!) The whole Cd is a collection of songs that Dee wrote, or always liked, which he kept scribbled on a piece of paper, stuck in his back pocket. ... Ideas that just never made it to any of the other CD's he has released with any of his previous bands. This CD is worth your time. If you want to listen to something different, and maybe find your own personal anthem (as I did with the track "Desperado") then pick up a copy of this CD. I doubt you will feel let down by it. If you want another "Stay Hungry", then this is not for you. Not a man afraid to forge his own path, Dee's radio stuff is still going strong (The House of Hair is in its ninth, maybe even tenth year) and the guy has recently got some long overdue TV airplay with "Gone Country" (they knowingly saved the most entertaining performer 'till last, you will note.) Then just recently with son Jesse on "Rock The Cradle" (like Father, like Son). Music NEEDS performers and characters like Dee Snider. The modern stuff is sadly lacking. All talk but no walk. The fact that Dee is still around, spewing his attitude all over any stage that will have him, is testimony to his own convictions. The title of this, his one and only solo CD, says it all. You should never.....ever....Let The Bastards Wear You Down. Thank You Dee. I heard you loud and clear.

if you like Twisted Sister then you should enjoy Dee Snider's solo work I really like Twisted Sister early records & I did even mind there break through recored in the early 1980s one the big reasons why I will always buy & support Dee Snider is very simple he went in front of congress & defend the rights of all Creative Artists & for all people to be heard & seen no matter how good or bad it might be! because Censorship is Wrong & if we can't learn from our mistakes then you just stop learning that's what makes people individual & unique!!!if you like Twisted Sister then you should enjoy Dee Snider's solo work I really like Twisted Sister early records & I did even mind there break through recored in the early 1980s one the big reasons why I will always buy & support Dee Snider is very simple he went in front of congress & defend the rights of all Creative Artists & for all people to be heard & seen no matter how good or bad it might be! because Censorship is Wrong & if we can't learn from our mistakes then you just stop learning that's what makes people individual & unique!!!
