Typical Budget Card
I got my hands on a salvageable computer, and wanted to upgrade it. Finding that the ATI Radeon I had was incompatible with the motherboard, I decided to try an NVIDIA card. On doing some research and evaluating my budget, I settled on the GeForce 6200. The 6200 is a budget card in all respects; I've had people tell me that the 5500FX I own is probably more powerful, if only it wasn't a PCI card. If you're looking for something to run Vista's or Windows 7's Aero desktop and not much else, this is for you. Gamers, look elsewhere; I'd recommend the 6600. With 2GB of DDR2 and a 1.8GHz P4, it can run Halo at a playable framerate at 800x600, but Team Fortress 2, while it looks good, plays at a very low framerate on any resolution, even if dropped to DirectX 8 mode (though I hear the processor ...
