    OLD SCHOOL BUILT TO LAST

    THE SONY TRINITRON PVM 8042Q was the broadcast field monitor of choice right up until the end of the standard definition CTR era. In fact, the date of manufacture on my eBay purchase is 1998. Today, consumers and professionals alike are junking or tossing these once prized monitors into the proverbial garbage cans...which means that you can pick up one of these for a song. Which begs the question, why would anyone need to own these relics? The answer is simple--these is still a world of analog games, video tapes and players out there that need to be reviewed, archived, etc. These old Sonys have every conceivable input and output to make that task possible. Todays new crop of HDTV's are sadly lacking in S-Video inputs and other analog options. Rather than modify a digital monitor to do the ...

    Great monitor

    This is a great monitor, even if it is tiny. I primarily use it for retro games and DVDs, and seeing that these are reference monitors, they look amazing. I recommend it for travel, as it’s only eight inches. Great value, and shows standard def as good as it will ever look.

    this thing looks amazing for retro games.

    this looks better than my 14 inch pvm. the smaller screen makes it look more vibrant and sharp. i love this so much i will buy another one.
