    Sharp looking but Dull

Though the knife has features in its design we like, it came unsharpened and had to take it to a blade sharpening shop to sharpen it. The small pocket on the front of the sheath is made for a "Metal Match" Would like to see this small pocket bigger as a pouch, great value for the price.

    It’s okay …

This knife makes an impressive presentation, to be sure. But, anyway you slice it, it’s still a cheap knife. The knife’s inexpensive steel gets dull quickly, but it also sharpens back up pretty easily, which compensates a bit. However, the reverse curve of the blade makes sharpening on a flat stone an impossibility. I did find that a round, ceramic rod worked pretty well, but a ceramic rod won’t help much if the knife’s edge has suffered any kind of significant damage. The rubber grip panels are smaller than the steel tang, making the knife very uncomfortable in hard use. It’s difficult to understand why the grips aren’t made to fit the tang better; it seems like such an easy thing to correct. The “tactical” sheath is a bit hokey, but it appears to be well enough made. Still, I ...

  • Extreme quality for an extreme value!!

Best features *1/4 inch of 1095 blade steel, excellent blade for heavy duty bush-craft and camping, this blade holds an edge nicely and sharpens quickly. * Co-polymer (rubberized) handles with raised design for plenty of grip * Multiple hand-hold positions for greater versatility of use * Excellent balance, the weight is near the middle of the blade making it great for chopping * Economy, It's hard to believe such a quality knife is so reasonably priced. I bought this knife because I wanted an inexpensive hard working large knife that I didn't have to baby. The SCHF9 has quickly become my favorite large fixed blade knife. I also have a Becker BK2 but It hasn't gotten much use. I love the co-polymer handles on the SCHF9 they give a much better grip than the BK2, and the weight of the BK2 ...

  • Great knife for the money

The knife is a bit heavier then I like adds lots of weight to my pack. That being said it’s high quality thick steel handle has great grip and the knife feels strong. It was not very sharp out of the box so I had it sharpened and it’s now razor sharp. The sheets is of standard quality nylon with small during pouch. Overall the knife is 4 stars out of 5 for the price vs quality! Just understand it needs to be sharpened before it can be reliable in the field.

  • Low quality control

The knife is solid and sturdy and I liked it but the curved blade is really hard to sharpen and the sheath does not fit the knife you can not get the retainer strap snapped its it on mine it was at least a half inch short that is an oversight without forgiveness a knife like this should be have better quality control before it leaves the factory I would never buy another one if they overlooked a simple thing like this what else did they overlook on a knife that that you should be able to rely on in an emergency I would not rely on this knife the safety of myself and loved ones are to important!!!
