For any of us that are fans of the classic "Gone with the Wind", this mini-series does not compare or give us closure to the Scarlett/Rhett saga; but it does entertain. Although Joanne Whaley Kilmer does not begin to fill the shoes of Vivien Leigh, but she tries with some success, sort of, you don't realize how absolutely gorgeous Vivien Leigh and a perfect performance she gave until you see the comparison. Timothy Dalton creates a whole new spin on Rhett Butler; and he is drop dead gorgeous to boot, but there is only one true Rhett.....Clark Gable. But for the money this mini-series delivers the romance and adventure in the spirit of Scarlett O'Hara. Her adventures in Ireland make this a well thought out plot twist with a fair amount of depth. Timothy Dalton really puts in a wonderful performance and you really like him, not like the love/hate of Clark Gable's "Rhett Butler". There is sexy scenes and just enough skin to tantalize those craving a romance novel approach, which it delivers, in the television fashion of this time. But in the end it is a well made mini-series that leaves us wanting more and keeping the door open for other O'hara/Butler sagas; just in case we need one.Read full review
Long awaited sequel was an abysmal flop. Kilmer's southern accent was poor at best. My crush,Timothy Dalton, seemed out of place in this which I did not expect. The story lines were all over the place and frenzied towards the end. This does not have the qualities that made Gone With The Wind a legend. At best it is similar to a PBS mini series movie. Both actors lacked the magic that the original Vivien and Gable brought to the screen. In many scenes, even the lowest supporting actors did a better performance.

I had seen it once and fell in love with it and then I was given a copy!! yeah. I was heart broken when my, then, vcr ATE it! Though it does have some different actor/actresses in the cast, it still has the depth and intrique as the first movie. Obviously Scarlett did not get the promotion it deserved. I had never heard of it till I saw it on television. No one I had asked had heard of it either. A replacement seemed fruitless until I found it on ebay!!! I highly reccomend this movie to all people.
I bought this movie because it has always been my favorite since I was a little girl and we got rid of it but now I am married I was looking around and saw it so I decided to get it. The only thing about it was when you buy a movie at the store its already rewinded but, when I got this none of it was rewinded. But the person who sold it to me was great got back to me when I was needing to know something very quickly. I would buy from this person again if they have other things that I would like.
Beautiful scenes of Ireland and a longer saga to Gond With the Wind. Some scenes were a bit dorky and the storyline has some trouble meshing with the original story/movie, but it is a great a fun movie to "take you off to Ireland."
