About this product

Product Information

The Canon IS 18x50 model of binoculars provides flawless, full-sized viewing. Even on rainy days, these water-resistant and nonslip rubberized coated binoculars stay protected and easy to hold. Shaky hands sometimes make it hard to see subjects, which is why the Canon IS 18x50 offers image stabilization for clear, steady images. While not quite a replacement for a telescope for astronomy, they are comfortable enough for all-night stargazing and are used to see some planets with greater clarity. Ultralow dispersion glass creates a high-quality and distortion-free image. The ergonomic shape of the binoculars makes them easy to carry and use, and they're light enough to stow in a bag or a backpack. The Canon 18x50 IS uses an optical image stabilizer to lessen eye fatigue. This mechanism is also very useful when using binoculars on a boat. Using independent horizontal and vertical sensors, a microprocessor keeps the image steady by adjusting the Vari-Angle Prism. The VAP moves to refract the light path, thus compensating for the vibration. For birding, the Canon IS 18x50 binoculars make a great alternative to a spotting scope. The weight of 2.6 pounds makes them sturdy, durable optics tools. They are small enough to keep on hand for when you spot that special bird from a car. The Canon holds the image steady. If you want to use a tripod, these binoculars offer a tripod mount on the bottom. There is a button on top of the binocular that turns on the image stabilizer. The stabilizer has two different functions. Press the button and hold it, and the IS works until you raise your finger. You can also quickly press the button to keep the IS on. Just remember to turn off the stabilizing function when you're done to save battery life. The 18x50 binoculars have a shock-resistant coating for a nonslip grip. This is handy when you are using them in wet conditions. Use them in rainy weather conditions without concern about fogging up the optics. Controls for image stabilization and focusing are all located for ease of use and are used intuitively by either hand. The lenses are coated with Canon’s Super Spectra Coating, which prevents glare from reflected light. The result is a brighter image that is free of distortion or washout. Numbers describing the binocular's features are on top of the unit. The first number, 18x, is the magnification. The second number, 50, describes the size of the objective lens in millimeters. The larger the lens, the more light it lets in, resulting in a more detailed and brighter image. It also is better for use in low-light situations. To protect the lens, you can mount some filters. The 3.7 degrees represents the field of view. In this case, this means 194.25 feet at a 1000-foot distance.

Wow !! Great price . Fast shipping. Seller is really an Authorized dealer with Jura which makes a huge difference with the warranty . I've already been in contact with Jura to fix a minor issue and no problem they already replaced the broken part. . i looked extensively on line and found this seller had the best combination of price , shipping and full warranty. This Jura z10 espresso machine is gorgeous and works like a dream . I would definitively buy from this seller again

    Great binoculars

This is the second pair of this binocular that I have owned. Something went wrong with the first pair, and I did look into getting it repaired, but I was told there was some reason it wouldn't be repairable (it was years ago, and I can no longer remember the reason). So they have been sitting unused for years. So I purchased this new pair. I love them every bit as much as I did my first pair of binoculars. The stabilization makes images very steady and clear. I laughingly refer to these binoculars as "nose hair" binoculars because from a distance you can get a very close-up look and clear look at anything. The only issue I had with this new pair of binoculars was that it did not come with a neck strap. This is not a lightweight binocular, and a person wouldn't be walking around for ...

Cheap latches can make binocs useless.

Broken latch. Cheap part. Way overpriced. Buy a real Telescope. Not binocs for stars, planets, etc.. I will, say, the idea of non shaking binocs is great. How ever, I will never buy any binocs again from Canon.

  • It's been almost 4 years now and I never get tired of using them!

I have owned the 18 x 50's for 4 years now. I have thoroughly enjoyed using them. The daytime scenic views are really impressive. But, using them for astronomy is where I think they really shine. Holding a pair of bino's up and looking at stars takes time and is exhausting. My first pair of bino's had less power and were lighter. Even so, trying to keep them steady for any length of time was near impossible. Even with a reclining chair, the jitters left me feeling dizzy after a while. I also owned a pair of giant 25/45 x 100 binoculars. They came with their own tripod. They were the same kind used by the military on the Korean DMZ. They were amazing. I could see things so far away with them. The jitters were their downfall too. They would make my eyes tired and sore. Canon to the rescue! ...

  • Very Satisfied with Canon 18 x 50 binoculars.

This model has added two features to my previous 8 x 30 model. The Image stabilizer button clicks on, and you do not have to continually press it to operate it. It also has a connection where you can fasten it on a tripod. It could be better, if it had 70 mm lens vs the 50. Maybe the next model.

  • Essential Power and Image Stability

Until I came upon the Canon 18X50 IS, I thought binoculars and telescopes were a waste of money. No longer. The Canon binoculars actually work. The reason is simple: these binoculars have the essential power and image stability that are needed for seeing long distance. Anything less is a waste of money. I can now truly enjoy the ocean view from my backyard.
