A decent performer at short range, the Linksys E1000 300 Mbps 4-port 10100 Wireless-N router, manufactured by Cisco, works best with a basic network. The Linksys wireless router uses only the 2.4 GHz band and does not offer gigabit Ethernet connectivity. It does offer four 10/100 Ethernet ports, along with easy-to-use tech via the Cisco Connect software. The 802.11n router works great when used with only one wired, wireless or mobile connection at a time, and also conveniently works with the Cisco Connect software. Easy to use, the Cisco Connect provides a fast setup and easy way to connect. To protect your network from unwanted hackers and intruders, the Linksys router uses a variety of security types, including WEP, WPA and WPA2 up to 128-bit. It includes the ability to password protect your equipment either on your computer or by visiting the default LAN IP address online. This router model gives you the option of updating the firmware before turning on the equipment and establishing your home network using the 2.4 GHZ band. Manufactured with the most basic of home systems and devices in mind to get the best speed, the Linksys E1000 router Wi-Fi works best within 5 to 10 feet of the gadget. Unlike newer wireless routers, this device works best with only one wireless device connected at a time. The USB port accepts a USB flash drive, letting you connect additional computers while still using the same password security for all of your equipment. As for the hardware, the user interface of the Linksys router features a variety of indicators to let users know the status of the device and the connection to your computers, including numbered LEDs corresponding to the four available ports that light up when connected to a computer and blink to indicate activity over that particular port through the cable modem. In addition, the internet LED illuminates to indicate an internet connection and flashes when activity takes place. The Power LED lights up to indicate power to the gadget, with the LED flashing when the equipment performs a self-diagnostic as it boots up while allowing you to switch it off with a simple touch of a button. The back of this Linksys router conveniently displays color-coded ports and buttons, including a yellow-colored internet connection and blue-colored ports for the router’s wired connection to your devices or using Wi-Fi. Like many broadband wireless routers, this one uses a single IP address to allow your equipment to access the Internet via the 2.4 GHz band, and perform simple networking, including connectivity for gaming and other tasks. With easy setup, password protection and fast speeds, this Cisco device, when updated with the latest firmware, makes a great addition to your home or office.

Old Technology That Can Not Provide The Greater Internet Speeds That Are Available Today
This Linksys product is old technology. It can only handle internet speeds up to 100 Mbps. Most internet service providers put out 200 Mbps. Consequently, your internet speed is slow. The same. thing goes for the Linksys E1200 and the LInksys E3000. They can only handle speeds up to 100 Mbps. Thess Linksys routers came out in 2010 and worked great. However, they can not provide the greater internet speeds that are available from your ISP. An excellent replacement is the Linksys MR7350 Mesh Router.

the E1000 is a very decent router for it's price range. Though it's considered by most as a low-end router (often sold in stores really cheap as refirbished), it has good range, produces low heat (rare for this particular design due to the case not having much room inside), and solid throughput rates. It is capable of some editions of 3rd party firmwares (Tomato, DD-WRT) which add features such as VPN, repeater mode, wireless/lan bridges, and multiple SSID's, however, some of the added features are limited by the routers CPU and amount of flash memory. Multiple SSID's and Repeater functions lower it's range considerably. The router also seems to drop signal if mroe than 3 or 4 devices connect at a time as the CPU can't handle that much. The stock firmware is very simple to set up, almost plug and go. For a business environment, I would not recommend this router, but for basic home use where 4 or fewer devices will be connecting through it at a time, it is ideal for it's price.Read full review

great router overall, and a fantastic price.
I needed a low cost solution, I've had good experience with Linksys in the past, and have owned an E1000 before. I bought two of them, one to use as a main router, and the other to use as a wireless repeater/adapter. I was able to get that setup without a problem using DD-WRT. (which installed without a hitch on both.) Cons: The only con I think of with this router is that the my max download speed while connected through wireless has been greatly reduced, however the trade off is greater range and higher speeds in the lower-range areas than with my old router. Other notes: using speedtest.net I get an average of 20-25mbps wired. Wireless I get 12-15mbps on a full signal, and 8-10 on medium signal, and 6-7 on a low signal. My ISP is Comcast Xfinity.

Linksys E-1000 wireless N router
Router was a replacement for an older Linksys b/g band router. A newer computer that I had purchased used the N range so I updated since the new router is backward compatible with the g band for older computers. It was also advertised as having a longer range and better signal than the b/g which it does. Startup and getting the computers on a secure lan wasn't too bad, but getting the network printer on the secure network was another story. During the installation phase I got several messages saying that the router could not be found, but I had seen warnings about this on the internet that such messages were common and to ignore them. Getting the printer online probably was not the fault of the router as much as my not being able to get the printer on the already secured network. The installation disk was very little help in this regard. The router runs and works very well and I have had no other problems with the router so far, after about a month's use. The price I paid for it was about half of what a new one retails for and although it was an open box item, it was apparent it had not been used or very little if any at all.Read full review

Cheap and easy way to have a DD-WRT router.
The reason I bought this router was to flash it with DD-WRT and use it as a wireless bridge. I was able to flash it easily after watching a YouTube how-to video. I was then able to configure it as a wireless bridge after reading some instructions from the DD-WRT wiki site. It's working now to bridge my audio receiver to my wireless router. Signal is not great because of the internal antennae but I was able to re-position my main wireless router to get a slightly better signal. Cheap solution to my problem.

GREAT VALUE FOR THE PRICE
The best comment tht I can say about this router is the excellent value for the money. I recently installed cable internet and needed a router to avoid paying for the rent of a router. The price for this Linksys router is excellent and will pay itself in about 4 months vs the cost of renting. Also, the brand name help me decide to buy it as it has a good reputation for quality and support. It has been just a little while since I purchased it, but so far it has been working great.

Older technology but works.fine!
I bought it for use as primarily an Ethernet switch and to wireless connect some of my devices. Now I have 2 routers to cover my entire house and property. Works great even though it’s an old model. Came to same price as buying a nonwireless switch

Hard working and attractive.
Almost too perfect modem. Its near indrustial grade is what makes this Modem so good. Perfect for people who have multiple users ; useing multiple applications on one network. As an added bonus it super user friendly . You dont even need the disk for set up as you can enter your modem through browser and entering its IP address. The power cord is comon and stadard, so finding a replacment is as easy as going through your spare electronics. Thats what I did. All I bought was the modem, and in minutes I had a wifi network set up with passphrasese (passwords.)

best value for your money with basic N band routers
Very good router. Very high value for your money considering is an N band router. Although only works in 2.4ghz frequency has a strong signal even with a couple of cement walls in between. very high data transmission which almost doesnt change even with wall interference. very easy to install and use. size and shape are very good.
