Item as described - though listed as used, but it really appeared like a new item that I could find at a retail bookstore. Item packed without issue upon arriving, it was mailed quickly and it arrived much sooner than expected. The transaction went well. I'm happy with the item, and I would definitely purchase from this seller again.

I would say it was as described, but it was actually even better than expected, really lovely item and came very well-packed for shipping. Lots of care taken in the handling for shipping. Price for both item and shipping cost were more than fair. I have a recipe book that came out two years after this one by the same publisher. My grandmother used it as a regular go-to cookbook her whole life & then it came to me & I still use it too. Very excited to now have this companion volume to go with it!

    Great old movies

Love old movies,Charlie Chan is one of our favorites. In black and white but still very very good. No excessive violence, bad language, and sex, just a good mystery to try and figure out whodunit.

Charlie Chan movies are not a "mystery".

Charlie Chan movies are not for everyone. They are about as basic as any old 1930s or 1940s mystery films. By today's standards, they are very simplistic, but still entertaining for those of us who love old films. The stories are so so, the acting borderline, and the production basic to the max. As long as the quality of the DVD is decent, and the expectations of the watcher is realistic, they are worth the asking price on ebay.

  • Dated But Wonderful

To some, Charlie Chan may seem corny; however, as portrayed by Warner Oland, he comes alive. Sidney Toler, who replaced Warner when he died, was okay, but Warner set the bar very high. The shows move right along, then are entertaining, and with the improvements made, they are easy to view. For the price this collection ranks with the best of the detectives (Miss Marple, Frost, Morse, Dr. Blake). See just how good the B-Detective Charlie Chan from the 30's really was, and I think you will agree with me.

  • Charlie Chan Fan

I am a black and white movie buff. Mr and Mrs. North, The Bowery boys (Eastside kids). Black & white cowboy pics. But my all time favorite is charlie chan. We watched them all of the time during our (my bro. & I) childhood. My daddy worked, so we were latchkey kids. I love each and everyone of these. I intend to get more of these. Thanks Again.

  • Charlie Chan/Warner Oland

Great set of the early Warner Oland's portrayal of Earl Derr Biggers "Charlie Chan" Good quality commercial release, not a low grade back room pirate version, includes many nice special features including the full feature (Spanish language feature) "Eran Trece" utilizing a different cast of actors. These of course are from a different time, so portrayals of characters are different than what is seen today, it also lacks the blood and gore modern audiences seem to like, but this is what I like about these period features because blood and gore are not needed. While the mysteries of the Chan saga are generally not complicated, they are engaging and thought provoking, they provide some humor and Warner Oland's portrayal of Charlie Chan is at its best as the Chan character is soft spoken, ...
