    Sharp Lens, but Heavy

This thing is a tank. Very heavy. It works like a dream though. Sharp images. Best images I took with it were outdoor using natural lighting. This is my first push-pull lens I have used. Also my first AF zoom lens that has a macro setting. When you push the little silver button and turn it to macro setting, you have to manually focus, but that's just fine with me. I paid too much for this 30 year old lens, after seeing it was cheaper elsewhere - an expensive lesson for me. But, it was a birthday gift for my daughter, who has a Nikon D90. It's amazing this old lens works great on a digital SLR. I want to get one of these lenses for myself now.

    Boat Anchor Heavy

Old school, bulletproof lens made with a lot of metal. Thus, it is heavy. My DSLR camera (a Nikon D90) is heavy enough by itself when talking hand-held shots, and this adds noticeably to the load. Often found at a bargain price currently, but be prepared for the weight penalty.

  • Well worth the price.

A good value from Nikon. I'm a beginner, so I can't add too much, as far as comparisons go. All I can say is I purchased this zoom lens at a good price, and the pictures speak for themselves. They were taken with Nikon D5200, under bright sun light, near the beach with a lens hood. Shutter speed, aperture and ISO info. were not recorded (sorry), and no filters were used. The only post editing that was done was cropping.

  • A Lost Treasure?

This Lens was a "Spec' Purchase" that is to say, a speculation to some extent: To use on a Full frame Nikon. For one thing it was extremely well priced for a solidly built old school lens WITH MACRO...And the focal length range 35mm to 135mm is perfect for Portraits, without being in your face; wide enough to do landscapes without risking over distortion and sharp enough in the mid ranges to not disappoint. Truth to tell I have been amazed by this lens: It is very, very sharp, with a lovely colour rendition, and is fast enough to turn a rolling wave into frozen glass on an overcast day. The Macro will have you grinning too. I first tried the macro while sitting in my 4x4 by focusing on my steering wheel logo and I swear, I nearly bumped jumped when the logo snapped into ...

  • At the price it’s a good value

Arrived on schedule. Very well packaged. Operates as advertised. Focus ring seems a little loose but doesn’t affect operation. You must set aperture ring to f22 avoid a F EE error on a d 200. You must set the focus ring to 35mm to use the macro.
