  • William Shakespeare's Star Wars by Ian Doescher (2013, Hardcover)

I enjoyed the dramatic way Star Wars is done in play form and the wonderful illustrations throughout. I really enjoyed reading this. This book covers Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in a very Shakespearean format. The book is broken down into Acts and Scenes. Each line is prefaced by who is speaking it (just like in a play). There is a Chorus that covers action scenes too. The whole thing is written in very Shakespeare like language. The book is also interspersed with some wonderful drawings of our heros in their Shakespeare-modified gear. The language is very Shakespearean, but I still found it easy to read. • Wonderful fun! The Bard would approve.

This was a delightful book. Being a Star Wars fan and having to read much Shakespeare, this was a delightful blend of the two. I have had my student's read out passages aloud in class as a warm up to reading Shakespeare. I wonderful changeover for introducing contemporary into classic.

  • A must for anyone who loves Star Wars or Shakespeare or both!

A perfect blend of Shakespearian literary technique with contemporary sci-fi. I can't put it down and I can't stop laughing. I love it!
