The recorder arrived and after unpacking I viewed what looked like a never used machine. After making an electrical cord I plugged in the recorder and put on a couple reels and turned on the system. It came alive with a “whirring” sound shortly to be followed by the speakers faint hum as the vacuum tubes glowed through a small opening in the case. I tested the forward and reverse and was pleasantly surprised by a perfectly functioning action. When I moved the play/record lever and engaged the pause lever to the play position nothing happened. I shut down the machine and removed the front plate cover. I looked to see all rubber wheels looked brand new! However I found the play cam crumbling in pieces. I ordered a new set of cams and a front cover which matches perfectly. So when the cams come and I install them I expected it to work. BTW the built in 8track works and all the lights work and the VU meters both light up and work. I need to clean the scratchy sounding potentiometers to clean out the scratchy sounds. Both sides of the stereo system are preforming. So it was more than I expected! ThanksRead full review
